City boss delighted with opening night performance

COMING on the back of five hastily-arranged friendlies and a short pre-season Cats boss Adrian Fitzpatrick was delighted to see his team take a point from their opening night match against Cobh Ramblers. "I was very pleased with the performance and the point," Fitzpatrick enthused.

"It's no more than we deserved. The fruits of a pre-season which required a lot of hard work and commitment from everyone at the club. "We won't get carried away, but my hope is that our players will have gained a lot in terms of confidence." "There were a lot of games postponed last weekend, and we've another difficult one to come this weekend," he said.

Three of those drafted into the Mons squad during the pre-season arrived from Fitzpatrick's former club St Patrick's Athletic.
