Have to agree with you nedder. I got into the Saipan debate with a lad in the pub last Thursday night. We both occupied entrenched positions and there was clearly no talking to each other. Its almost 4 years now and time to move on.

this really seems to be the civil war of the early 21st century. no body will give up their beliefs or concede an inch.

Well, I watched the programme. No new insight and I don't think there was anything that would change anyone's preconceived views on the episode. Interesting though all the same - apart from the ban, it is probably the only sporting issue that has ever divided the nation is such a way. Thankfully the Irish had English subtitles :D
