If Robson rates him as a scout then that's good enough for me.

Sure Bobby is really in charge so no surprise he brings in his friends...

i think Deehan would have been 1st team coach at villa in Stauntons time there, so if it is true, then its far more likeky to be Stauntons decision

thought my mind was playing tricks on me on this one because i searched it and found nothing but was sure id heard it, so i rang northampton today and they told me that Staunton has recruited their director of football John Deehan, who was first team coach at villa in Stauntons time there, its an informal consultancy/scouting role primarily aimed at recruiting young lower league players who may be showing potential to play higher up , for Ireland.

He went on to say that it was Deehans knowledge of the lower leagues coupled with his having coached at the top level which prompted Staunton to involve him and he was at lansdowne road for the game v sweeden, furthermore, i was told that, Deehans influence can already be seen as this guy http://www.ntfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Squad/Profiles/0,,10425~34331,00.html was called up as a stand-by for a recent underage squad, (possibly u19s).

Woods will keep a check over English-based Irish players for Robson and Steve Staunton.

Good to hear - it's about time this group of players finally got some long-overdue recognition from the Irish coaching staff. :D
