Should be a great game. Obviously with it's close location, we should have plenty of support down at it. Hopefully the ST will fill a big bus so more supporters will get to it. The atmosphere should be good and the players will be fired up for it, especially the new guys because they have to prove themselves so they'll want to impress from the start. My team would be:
O'Hara,
Foy,
McNamara,
Burns,
Peers,
Hughes,
O'Grady,
Turner(suspended for Bohs game so should play full 90 for this)
Kuduzovic,
McTiernan,
Mansaram.
Prediction: 2-1 to Rovers!

is turner not suspended for this game?No (http://www.eleven-a-side.com/sligorovers/irish_soccer_detail.asp?newsid=21446).
Not sure about the Longford players, I'd say it's their second game that they'll be suspended for.

ya i think gus and red4eve have got the team right there.i see sligoman once again gets his dig at flannery by omitting him from the team.will you please stop knocking him.i can tell you now he will start on saturday and rightly so.you were mad to get browner starting ahead of him before too but he saw off that challenge for his place and there's no reason why he shouldn't do the same again.

I agree I think Mansaram could be a "Peter Crouch" type figure for us , i may be wrong though.

Neither team will want to loose their opening game, So I go for a 1-1 draw,
knowing how Longballford play the ball will be in the air for most of the game......

had a dream last night that mansaram came on and scored the winner in the last minute. i can't believe sum1 could still doubt flannery after last season

Flannery was invaluble 2 us lst season, nd will be this season 2 coz we only have like 3 strikers!

I think we are going to draw. 1-1 ! I think the fixture schedule has been good to us. Longford.Pat's and Dublin City amongst the first first 5 games of the season. Bohs at home and Derry away will be tough. I think if we can pick up a point at Longford, it'll help everyone to settle.

thats sh!te.if your on about the galway game i saw the same 30mins and i don't think either of them done enough to take seanie's starting place.who scored the goal in that game?seanie was also one of the main reasons we got promoted and it would be a disgrace if he didn't start the season.

Waste of a journey by the people on the Trust bus. Just as we arrived in Longford, it was announced, disgrace leaving it that late to call it off:mad:
seanie was also one of the main reasons we got promoted and it would be a disgrace if he didn't start the season.:rolleyes:Right, ok, you believe that, and I'll believe the other;).

i'm sure the right decision was made about the pitch but it such a loada balls that there was no warning of an inspection at all during the day. it seemed like there was gonna even more rovers fans than i thought at the game and half of them will prob give up on the idea of goin to away games now. also a shame cos i defo taut rovers would get a result which would boost confidence for the tougher task of playin bohs. we've waited 6 season for premier division football i guess we'll just have to last another 7 days

Why couldn't they agree to play the game on Monday night ? That way both teams would have a few days before their next games.
With matches on Friday and Saturday of every weekend, there going to end up playing it on a Tuesday or Wednesday anyway.
I'm sure if the two clubs had agreed to Monday night that the league wouldn't have had any problem with it.

no there was a fella from the FAI there last night and he wanted it to be on monday but both managers didnt want that so it will be a midweek game in a week or two.
we will be playing a friendly v Harps on monday according to Sean

Don't understand why the clubs didn't agree to play on Monday. Longford would have had a break before playing Shels and we would have got the season up and running before the Bohs game.
The game has been fixed for Monday March 27th and that's 3 days after a trip to Derry and for Longford it is three days after an away game with Bray.

Pain in the arse alright that it was called off after having travelled, but probably the correct decision if the pitch was in a bad way. It wasn't like the rain had just started though, surely Aertel should have had it that the game was going ahead subject to a pitch inspection or something like that. Typical though, we were listening to Today FM on the way up and they didn't even mention the EL fixtures on the sports at the 6 o'clock news, nothing but a phone-in about how bad Fulham were away from home and Everton's goals. The usual ignorance of the league by the media!

Was talking to a few longford fans before the game and it transpires that the town end where the rovers fans were were going to be segregated is uncovered seats behind the goal , probably would still be drying out if the game went ahead.
