Does anybody know if the FAI applied for 2 spots in this seasons Intertoto Cup ?
The rules have been changed as you may know and there is now a chance of Ireland getting a 2nd spot if some other countries stay away. It would mean Longford Town getting a spot which I am sure they would jump at considering its now a 3 round competition and the chance of meeting a 'BIG' team is greater then in previous seasons.

Longford in Europe again ?!?! God - NOOOOOOOOO ! :p
Can't we give the slot to Athlone instead...? :D

I could have sworn I heard the opposite in that all countries will now only have 1 Inter Toto spot. I'd say we're well down the list for a 2nd spot in any case. Sadly we're still one of the worst ranked leagues in Europe.

We may not be too far down the list as the numbers in each round are not decided as of yet.
It will be worked that if a country in Round 1 doesnt take their spot then another country in Round 1 will get 2 assuming they applied, so it doenst have to work its way down from the top leagues.
Depending on how many start in each round we could be close enough for a 2nd spot.

Of course Higgins that brings us back to your original point, did the FAI actually apply? We wouldn't be surprised if they didn't.:o

Dont think you can blame the FAI fully if they didnt. The clubs themselves especially Longford should have pushed the issue.
I think some time this week was the deadline for every country to apply for 0,1 or 2 spots.
The FAI should have communicated to the clubs but the clubs themselves should be aware of new UEFA rules when they happen.
