Guess who will be the surprise inclusion....
With all this granny rule talk going on, only Liam Lawrence possibly and Ronnie O'Brien might be included in the squad, in my opinion....
Any takers for anyone else.......

Ronnie O Brien would not fall under the Granny Rule category if that is what you meant. Sorry if thats not what you meant.
I think
Joey O Brien
Stephen Ireland
Kevin Doyle
Paddy Mc Carthy
Liam Lawrence
will all be in the squad that were not regulars under kerr.

I agree with NeilMcD. Joey O'Brien is definitely going to get his first callup. He wasn't called up to the U21's so Staunton must have told Givens to leave him out. Ireland was called up for the U21s so I'm not sure about him. Doyle will definitely keep his place in the squad, McCarthy should regain his place and Lawrence will most likely get called up. I have a feeling there'll be a big suprise callup that most of us didn't even know qualified. :)

I think Ireland should get a call up though I think going to a U21 tournament when in the Middle of a premiership programme is different to playing a friendly in Dublin when other players are away on international duty. I think Pearce would release him for the Friendly but was probably not too keen on the U21 tournament.
I agree too about the suprise one.

AFAIK he scored for Swansea over the weekend so i assume he is fit.I would love to see Joey O'Brien ,Doyler, Ireland and McCarthy get a run.

He's played for us at U14 level too. He's only just gone 20 so can still play for us.

Whats his heritage?...to be honest that would be very exciting if it did happen...youngest ever player to score in the premiership....If Stan did get him it would be some haul. :)

Where did you see he played for us at U14 level? I've had a look but could find nothing. Also, I thought now that if you played competitive U21 games that was it, there was no changing country.

You weren't looking hard enough either here on on the wider internet, Paulie. :p

Cheers PP. The problem I have though is that, due to the security settings on my PC in work, I cannot open links to other threads on this site. I can only access the site through www.foot.ie. Could you tell me what the thread title is with the information on Milner and I can then go and find the information on him?

It's an extract from an old webpage on the website of his old school, Horsforth High School in Leeds. The relevant extract reads like this:
PROFILE OF JAMES MILNER: AGED 14 YEARS
Sport: Football
Position: Centre Midfield, Right Wing
Current Status: Plays for England Under 15s
How did it all happen?
Playing for Westbrook Juniors, James was spotted by a talent scout and went on from there. He supports Leeds United, where he has been a ball boy and had several free tickets! He has played for Leeds under 16s and under 17s as well as Ireland under 14s.
Favourite stars: Paul Gascoigne and Harry Kewell
Other Interests: Also plays cricket and 2 years ago played for Yorkshire but feels he would like to concentrate on football.
What the future holds?
Tournaments coming up in England, Ireland and France next year for under 16s team.
Tenuous and not from an official source but it's his old school so they should know. :)

Seriously doubt either of them will, Clarke has one played once since signing for West Ham, and dont think Whelan is good enough. Richie Partridge anyone?:)
