Some people are really over-reacting here. I didn't see any Rovers players have to leave the field injured, as Kearney did after about 15 minutes of some very hefty tackling on him. Both red cards were justified, but that should be the end of it. If a ban is in the rulebook then both players will take their bans and nothing more will be done about it.
They were poor tackles, by two poor players on the night (I'll give O'Halloran a chance but Crawley has had far too many) and thats about it. Of course this thread has descended into a "Shelbourne will run out of money and the club will die" thread, threads about Shels always will. I'm getting a bit fed up of it to be honest, change the tune lads.

1) The behaviour of Shels players and coaching staff last night was way OTT. It was a friendly and some Shels senior professionals (Crawford being the worst offender) went out to hurt Rovers players. It's perfectly reasonable for those of us who were there to comment.
2) In case you hadn't noticed, football in the capital is in a huge state of flux. There are major changes coming down the track. These changes affect the two clubs who played last night plus Bohs and Pats. Again, perfectly reasonable for people to comment.
You can put your paranoia away now.

However a ref should not give a 2nd yellow in a friendly - should ask bench to sub the player.
Just to come back to this point
At an FA meeting back in July last year, Mr John Baker (Head of Refereeing at the English FA) said that referees MUST Caution and Send-Off in pre-season friendlies, the Laws of Association Football must be applied, and any referee found not taking action will be in trouble!
At no time must any referee fall into the trap of saying to managers to sub players off.
This is the same for the FAI.
If a friendly is sanctioned (i.e. played between 2 teams both affiliated to the FAI), then it is under the jurisdiction of the FAI, so normal Laws of Association Football (LOAF) apply and punishment for transgression of LOAF is the same as any normal competitive game.
In un-sanctioned games, strictly speaking anything goes (which is why refs shouldn't ref unsanctioned games, not to mention insurance not being valid etc). However, if both teams are affiliated to the FAI, then it is sanctioned and so LOAF applies.

And just to follow on - this is what happens if you don't apply Law correctly in Pre-Season Friendlies:
Referee Alan Kaye has been charged by the Football Association over his handling of York City's friendly with Leeds United.
Kaye was praised by many for his refereeing at Bootham Crescent, which saw him signal to the Leeds bench to substitute Mark Viduka after the Australian striker clashed with York's Andrew Jordan. But the FA was not impressed, because it expects any player who commits a red-card offence in a pre-season friendly to be sent off. Had Viduka been dismissed, he would have faced a three-match ban at the start of the Premiership season.
An FA spokesman said: "Mr Kaye has been charged by the FA for less than proficiently applying the laws of the game."
He was suspended for a month in the end.

There are a number of interviews with players and fans taken from the Rovers game last Tuesday on Shelsweb (http://www.shelbournefc.ie)
