Batman 'set to kick al-Qaida's ass'

Batman is reportedly to turn his superpowers to crushing a new foe – Osama bin Laden’s henchmen.
The Caped Crusader will battle al Qaida in an forthcoming graphic novel called Holy Terror, Batman!, according to the New York Post.
“It is, not to put too fine a point on it, a piece of propaganda,” Batman writer Frank Miller told a panel discussion at a San Francisco comic-book convention.
“Batman kicks al Qaida’s ass.”
Miller said the comic was “an explosion from my gut reaction of what’s happening now” and “a reminder to people who seem to have forgotten who we’re up against“.
The story apparently sees DC Comics’ famed superhero defending his hometown of Gotham City against a terrorist attack.
“It just seems silly to chase around the Riddler when you’ve got al Qaida out there,” Miller said in comments posted on entertainment site ign.com.
He added that it would not be the first time a comic-book icon had taken on a real-life villain.
“Superman punched out Hitler. So did Captain America. That’s one of the things they’re there for,” Miller said.
A spokesman for DC Comics declined to comment to the newspaper.
It is not known exactly when the unfinished project will be published, but it is likely to be next year at the earliest, the New York Post said.
