Passed by The Cross about an hour ago - they were taking apart the roof.

Suppose so.
Pity about having a building site as an end of the ground for most of the season but it should be worth the hassle in the end.
If they then put a little terracing at either end of the Donie forde, we'd have one hell of an arena.

it will be worth it in fairness. I thought the shed end was an awful sight and most of the foreign teams thought so too. If they put a roof on the other side of the ground the place would look very good indeed.

Cheers sullanefc - reminds me of the time most LOI clubs got the floodlights. In Athlone we planned to switch them on to have a good look before our first floodlit match - and did - only to be confronted with the eerie spectacle of the far end stand in bits - after a big storm during the night before. Talk about getting a double dose - 50% and 50% bad at the same time.

Good luck with the new stand.:)

looks like they are making a job out of it. I would have got in a bulldozer and just flattened the place in minutes

Buildings & street at too close for that, probably only took a few hours to dismantle the steel.

Where's the PPE there!! No hard hats, no hi-vis vests, no harnesses!! Call the HSA and it could be another 2 years before work is finished!!
