Derry City star Stephen O’Flynn will be sentenced in May after pleading guilty to assault causing harm at Cork Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.

O’Flynn, formerly of Cork City, entered a plea of guilty to the charge, arising out of an incident at Annabella Terrace, Mallow, County Cork on May 28th last year.

He will appear before the court again on May 19th, when sentencing will be passed.

O’Flynn, who has already paid more than €2000 in compensation to the plaintiff, joined Derry from Cork 12 months ago and helped the Candystripes to second place – behind his former club – in the eircom League.

The 23-year-old, who has also had spells at Wimbledon and Limerick FC, made 23 appearances for Derry in 2005, scoring five goals.
