Sure I knew it wasn't actually gonna be near Bologna; it's Ryanair! Gonna rent a van & sleep in in instead of a hotel so it's a drive for me anyways.
whats the point anyway, they dont start flying till the week after the game!

Are you flying into and out of Bologna? What about accommodation - are you stopping in Bologna or going straight onto San Marino? Do you know the best wasy from Bologna to San Marino?
Probably the main reason you failed your test was that you got into the back of the car sporting a plastic bucket of beer from the Schlossplatz:)

Hi there:)
I am from Belfast and live in Perugia with my 14 year-old son, Patrick (of course). I have been in Italy 30 nearly 30 years now, including 3 years in the Rimini area where I still have friends.
My first experience in helping football fans travelling independently to Italy was with Dundee in 2003 http://www.italywithus.biz/ezine/12oc/page3.htm#title. Then some of the Dundee people asked me to help them when Scotland played in Milan last Easter and that lead to me bringing about 500 Scots to Ljubljana from the various airports they flew into in Italy.
Basically I help organise the easiest and cheapest way of travel from any airport to your accommodation (this means you can take advantage of more cheap flight options), get group deals with hotels, transportation to and from the match (if needed), answer questions about various aspects of visiting Italy and bits and pieces like bargaining down the prices of drink, organising parties etc. In Milan I was also able to get extra tickets for hundreds of the Scots.
I earn my keep by offering a good service with low price x large numbers. I also contribute without any payment by helping with train tickets, giving information etc. I have asked permission to help on this forum because I know some people hate to think of others using a board for their own benefit. If I am not welcome there is no problem, if anyone want to contact me directly I will help them via my own site/message board. I take the view that answering questions and giving details of services available etc. on an open forum guarantees (as much as is possible) the best and most honest help possible. Every thing is more transparent:p
I am a "regular" on a few forums so it won't be difficult to find people who know me - I hope we can become friends too:D
Helen
Great to have a contact in the area. If the game is in San Marino will you be able to organise transport to and from the game as we will be staying in Bologna? Is there a minimum number of us you need?:

Obviously flying cheap with Ryanair as myself but arriving in on the early morning flight! On the Ryanair website it gives info on destinations. For "Bologna" I think it says that it's 74Km  from Bologna but that there is a train connection to Bologna and it takes about an hour.
Did a bit of a "Google" last night on Italian trains but was difficult to get a site I could get details of times routes etc. (unlike Germany :) ) However, if there is a train to meet the plane it is likely that there will be a train to go to the airport for the flight home.
It's early days yet and plenty of time to get more detailed info

Dont forget that Bologna Forli is Bologna's second airport and is about 40 miles outside the city centre. To get to the city centre you have to get a bus which is timed to leave after each flight arrival and it takes about 75 minutes or you can get a local bus to Forli station, about 15 minutes away, then get a train to Bologna. Trains run about every half hour (not sure about later in the evening) and the train journey takes about40 minutes.
Casso this if posted above and there are a few comments about it. There aren't too many posts on the thread yet so reading them shouldn't take too long

Their website
http://www.fsgc.sm/
sells tickets online but no sign of any on it yet.
According to this site
http://www.worldstadiums.com/stadium_pictures/europe/san_marino/serravalle_olimpico.shtml
the capacity is 2,200. However there were 4,000 at the Scotland game a few years ago. They may install temporary seating.
Thankfully the local demand should be low however there will be a ticket shortage.

Me & Beavis heading so all prices are include both of us.
They're all only 1c/ 1p at the mo so here ya go (all rounded up):
Tues 6th
Dublin 13:35 - Stanstead 14:50 = €54
Stanstead 19:00 - Bologna Forli 22:05 = €60
Fri 9th (Ryanair new route starts on the 9th)
Bologna Forli 17:50 - Dublin 19:40 = €36
Total on flights €150
€75 each thats a bargain I reckon.
Colie,

Rimini (http://www.riminiairport.com/english/arrivi.shtml) has an airport too, I've just noticed. Very quiet, but there's a flight from London Luton to Rimini (10 miles-ish from San Marino) on Tuesdays. Might be worth keeping an eye out for the spring timetables when they come out; the arrivals details only go up to October so far.
It was held in San Marino - any idea or indication of how many home/away fans were there?Population of San Marino is 28K. Doubt if 10% of the population go to watch their team play, especially one that can get thumped 13-0. So the balance is around 2000. For a midweek game against this team, I'd reckon 1K tops hard core judging by the Faroes.
BTW, London - Bologna with ryanair are currently 1p each way plus taxes. ( I splashed out £13 couple of weeks ago). That just shows that the game isn't a high priority for the suits, barstoolers and footie connosieurs.

A bit harsh there lopez. I am heading to the game but there are many guys I know how are Die hard El fans who are not going for various reasons, money, Annual Leave etc. People have to make a choice of away trips and I suppose people felt Germany away in September was worth it and San Marino in Feb is not so worth it. I am heading over but I totally understand that not everybody can go and that does not make them barstoolers or suits or whatever.
