Justn to start the ball rolling again on my dream to have a major championship in ireland. How bout a celtic bid for 2016. We would have some unbelievable stadiums and the whole tournament would be fantastic.
All we need is eight stadiums!!!

Ireland
Lansdowne Road
Croke Park

Scotland
Hampden
Murrayfield
Ibrox
Parkhead

N Ireland
The maze stadium

Wales
The Millenium stadium

Wouldn't it just be an unbelievable event!!!!!!!!!!

Would it not clash with the All Ireland? You expect them to alot 4 automatic qualifiers for the tournament too?

maybe if there was a mini tournament between the 4 countries for one automatic spot... then the other 3 go abck into the qualifier pools...

would love to see NI in a tournament and this idea looks like our best hope of ever getting there but 4 teams is a non starter and if ROI and Scotland couldnt do it before theres no chance.

Well maybe they could expand the European Championship finals to 24 teams then 4 automatic Qualifiers would be desirable as the groups would produce 20 teams instead of the current 14. People seem to forget that there are more than 50 members of UEFA at the present time, and if more of the former Soviet Central Asian republics come on board that could increase.

If any of the countries listed are serious about hosting a major Championship they need to apply for U-18 & U21 tournaments to show Uefa they serious. If you willing to put the effort into hosting say the U-21s then will get you a lot more support within Uefa.

Do ye remember the last time we went for Euro 2008. There was another bid the Nordic bid, Sweden, denmark, finland, and Norway. So it is not unheard of!

3 Stadiums in one city?
Can't see that going down too well with UEFA or the local police force.

Nice idea, but could never see four countries co-hosting the event, and also I doubt if the GAA would allow Croke Park to be used. The Championships would take place in June, and this is not a good month to get the use of Croker. Next year the GAA won't allow Ireland to use the ground in June or September.

The FAI should bid for the U-21 Championships & they may get government funding to upgrade a few eL grounds (not many grounds required for the U21s). This would prove to uefa that they have the organisational ability to carry off that & they also not just going for glamour senior championships. Could also prove sufficient local interest in football - if irish people won't go to U21s then do they deserve a senior championship?
