That was before the Champions League was opened up to 2nd place team and it was actually the Champions League. A clue is that the guy managed a non English team.

Fair Play Green Army the answer is Stuart Baxter for AIK Solna. I think they were in Arsenals group.

wat about ray harford? managed b'burn in the champions league during the 95-96 season. he was born in halifax which sounds fairly english to me? so does that make 4 as opposed to the 2 the observers sloppy journos originally came up with?

Thought Sheringham missed out one season while getting West Ham promoted.
Also think Mark Crossley, Shaka Hislop and Andrew Cole miss by 1 season.
