I see that Newbridge Town have applied for capital grant funding to build a new 1,100 seater stand. Sounds like good news for Kildare County with regards to licensing issues.

for the 2007 season will be 3,000 covered which very few clubs will have.Galway hope to have the stand on the town side completed by then giving them 3,200 covered seats.Great to see Kildare doing something because in all fairness the ground lacked any kind of shape.

Well it's not Kildare County thats doing anything, but Newbridge Town, the owners of Station Rd. Hopefully they will get their funding to build the stand and make the ground look more like a 'stadium'. Fair play to any club, be it senior or junior, that continue to improve their facilities.

Is the stand replacing the current one or been built on the other side of the ground?

I would assume on the other side of the ground. At least thats what they had debated last year. I can't imagine them replacing the current one.

It will be built in such a way that extra sections can be built on ti it as more money is raised.

If you are talking about Kildares, I have not seen any yet.

Do you know when it will be built? They recieved planning permission but do they actually know what it will look like, how much it will cost or when it will be built?

I think that the planing permission runs out at the end of this year so NTFC will need to start building before the end of 2006 if they are not to lose the permission. In the current climate of only houses and shops being deemed to be all that we require by our glorius county council planning department, I wouldnt fancy their chances of getting an extension to the permission if they dont start soon.

am i missing something here? how does 1100 +400 = 3200? are ye counting the bar stools being "covered" as seats in ground?

I think you are confusing Galways plans with Kildares.
