I've never seen Trundle play as no interest in League One (Must be worse than the Championship which is bad enough) but doesn't look like target-man to me.

Elliot only scored maybe 12 goals in the Championship last season in what is exceptionally crap team so i don't know if he that good yet. 1 performance against the Faroes doesn't prove much...
He got 15 goals in the Championship last season and 1 in the FA cup. By this time last year he had 12 league goals and 1 FA cup goal, Doyle has 11+1 atm. Elliott only started 7 matches from this time until the end of last season too. It took Elliott until mid-September to break into the Sunderland team too. Overall he started 29 league games last season, Doyle has started 27 this season. His goalscoring ratio is better than Doyle's. He has been excellent for Sunderland in the premiership this season and played well in all his games for Ireland. I don't see how Doyle has proven himself yet Elliott hasn't.

I don't think i said that just being cautious about suggestions Elliot will cure all ills. Its just a decision to see who plays alongside Keane really & good options from Morrison (even if he is a mercenary), Elliot & Doyle.

Exactly. Some of this sh!t, especially from Cork fans is getting boring at this stage. Unlike some recent Irish internationals from Cork, Clinton will give everything he has.

I've long ago accepted that Morrisson is an irish international & don't seek to change that but he still is a football mercenary. Hes 2nd choice forward at the moment but will lose that if spend much more time warming the Crystal Palace bench.

There's talk of Morrison going to Cardiff; don't know what happened, but this could be the start of a real decline.

He's really not though, I'm not sure where people got the idea that Clinton is big/bigger than our other options:confused:

If you can't defend your opinions without resorting to personal insults then maybe foot.ie is not for you.

I saw that in a couple of places when I looked on google (Range seems to be between 5'9 and 6'1:eek:). Gary Doherty is listed as either 6'1 or 6'2 and there's clearly a gap in height between himself and Clint. Shorter than Dotsy, Alan Lee and Kevin Doyle - (slightly) taller than Robbie Keane and taller than David Connolly seems to be the way they line up.
I believe that these height statistics are more often overestimated than underestimated as well.

Pete, you resorted to personal insults to Clinton Morrison. The response you received was fair in my opinion.

I thought Clinton was 6 2"...
Maybe Doyles bigger than I give him credit for.... (Lowsy portable tv)
I still believe that we're looking for the best partner for Robbie Keane and not necessarily the better player is all.

He called Cork people & by implication me a bigot based on what? I called Morrisson a mercenary which is proven "come & get me..." plea to england manager.
Anyway back on topic...

Irish strikers just don't score enough goalsin international football. Robbie Keane is our record goalscorer on 25. David Healy has 19 I think for Norn Iron... pathetic when you consider Malta's record scorer Busutill managed 25 for the Maltese.
Given that background we cannot afford to overlook Trundle or anyone else who qualifies for us who knows where the back of the net is.
