Anthony Gorman has completed his fifth new signing of the new campaign, with the signing of experienced Barry Curran from Newry City.
Curran, who hails from Ballindrait joins Mark Mokendi, Chris Malseed, David Bell and Stephen O Donnell as the new faces at Finn Harps thus far in the close season.
Curran comes as a highly rated winger-cum-striker from the Irish League, where he has averaged between 10 and 15 goals during his time in the North.
He started off his footballing career with Derry City, before joining Limavady and then Omagh Town.
He won the First Division player of the year when Omagh won promotion to the Premier Division of the Irish League.
Having impressed at the St. Julian’s Road outfit, Coleraine paid a fee of £8,000 for his services.
While at Coleraine, Curran won the Irish Cup in 2003 and was part of the team that was defeated in the final of the competition the following year.
Welcoming the move, Anthony Gorman said that Curran will bring a wealth of experience and versatility to the Navenny Street side, who are aiming to win promotion from the first division this season.
“Barry brings experience to us and he can play out wide or up front. When I played with him at Coleraine, he even played up front” said the Harps boss.
Continuing Gorman said that Curran being locally based was also a factor. Said Gorman, “Barry is a wide player that can score goals, and that is something that we could do with at the minute. And, the fact that he’s a local man was also a big boost for us.”
The 28-year old has put pen to paper on a two-year contract at the Ballybofey-based club.
