Wasn't that on last Saturday to decide the League format and other vaguely important issues? Any chance of the mere fans being let know what happened?

Bang on the money, its on this weekend, don't think the licensing results will be issued before that, so probably not going to have the format and fixtures available, although they should be released in some form (probably won't but i think they should)

They couldn't reach agreement on league format, so the meeting was adjourned to an hour before whatever meetings on in Limerick.
Also couldn't agree with the amalgamation with the FAI. Most wanted it bar; Kilkenny, Dub. City and Monaghan (I think).

They couldn't reach agreement on league format,Since the issue is even up for discussion does that mean that we're likely to not get 12 in the premier and 10 in the first?

Not quite true. We were not against the amalgamation per say. We were against the issue being rushed without the proper discussions and assurances being given.
I know the Star said that we were against it but we were even talking about it at committee level last nite but that is not quite the situation.

its classic fai, how the hell do you budget when you dont know how many games you have, or in our case what division you are in!

Exactly, how do u approach sponsors when you dont know the product you are selling.
Not sure we can blame the FAI entirely for this, it's the club's fault as much as anyones.

That's it exactly,
The genesis report was published in September and one of its recommendations was that a public debate on its proposals should be held with a mind to introducing changes for 2007.
Instead there has been no public debate and changes are being talked about behind closed door for 2006.
It's too soon and with too little consultation.

I get the impression from some posts that there is still a possibility that the EL won't have a 12 team Premier/10 team First Div format in 2006.
Surely this isn't the case.
Any possible stuctural changes would be in 2007 season at the earliest, yes?
To put through such radical changes for 2006 season at this stage would be ridiculous:mad:

you think?!?
a 22 team league is still very much on the cards. its a farce
I actually reckon with 2007's structure likely to be a 10 team premier division & 12 team first, the divisions will stay as is this season, the one difference being the play offs will be scrapped, three teams will be relegated from the premier & one team will be promoted from the first. Allowing for the licencing scenario being a joke as per usual this would be the way i see it going!!
That or there'll be absolutely no changes whatsoever!
Personally i'd be quite suprised to see a single division of 22 teams ever existing!

If this actually does happen then it will only serve to glaringly show up the powers that be as a bunch of bundling idiots. Are all the fuss of changing from 10 back to 12, to go right and do it again ..... unreal. I'd nearly throw the hat in if that were to happen. They would really want to come out of the clouds if they think that change will prove to be any more successful than as is now.

A 22 team single division would only be possible if the Premier division is scrapped & replaced by extended 1st division as 22 clubs would be unable to get a Premier licence unless the whole scheme is scrapped which I don't think is possible?

Lads,
To make a comparison, the reason a 20 team league works in England is because they have 3 relegation places and about 8 or 10 european places. Every team has something to play for. In a 22 team league with 3 european places and no relegation most teams' season will be over before it starts. It'll be nothing more than a series of 42 friendly games.

Exactly ..... that is the very reason 22 team league would be a disaster.
If someone were to implement this change, then it is a clear sign that the wrong person is in charge and has the ability to implement it.

Given that I'm usually among the first to complain about the FAI/eL, I may as well hold my hands up here and stand corrected.
Incidentally, what I've heard suggests that any league format change is driven by the likes of Ollie who doesn't want to have to play the likes of UCD, Dublin City, Kilkenny, Monaghan, etc. and who is actively trying to ensure those clubs don't play a part in the top flight in the future. I've also heard there are enough clubs to realise they could well get screwed over and so will be voting against any format change, especially with the change back to a 12-team league last season. Touch wood, anyway!
