heard some of the songs from demo's and mp3's that were downloadable from their website around christmas and some of it is ok, others is pants i think.. duno if i'll be purchasing it.. might just graba few songs from itunes instead and be selective

its really really good ive had most of the songs allready so it was nt anything new , but for a bunch of 19 year olds there very talented ,i also like the fact they wont appear on top of the pops :D ! even though both there singles went straight in at number one .

Is it just me or does anyone else not understand all the hype this band are generating. They're nothing more than a new Kaiser Chiefs / Strokes / Franz Ferdinand / etc.
I don't see how they've managed to have the fastest selling album of all time and are being called the new Beatles or Oasis. I think its just been a case of excellent marketing and their manager deserves a big pat on the back.

this is a band that has had absolutly no marketing at all , they are signed to an independent record label no no big push from them , they rarely do interveiws wont go on top of the pops etc .

to compare them to the kaiser chiefs or franz ferdinand ..........i cant be bothered ...... :(

yip excellent management, had an excellent website from almost the start and they generated alot of really good hype, alot of which was word of mouth and from dj's / nme etc


as for comparisons to the beatles, thats absurd

the albums good, not great

personally i reckon another album out of them then they'll fade away just as fast as they appeared .


*of course having said that now they'll prob go on to have a string of number 1 albums and be the biggest band ever for the next 20 years..just to spite me.. but i doubt it :)

i dont know where you get this info from , they have built up this fan base purely on word of mouth and from touring bloody hard ,they gave out demo disks as bands do some fans put it on the website myspace.com , there is no synical marketing behind it


what they have proven is that record companies telling us that downloading music will kill the industry is bull , as they have now proven by letting fans download your music the fans will repay you by rushing out to buy any albums you release .

first 2 singles straight in at number 1 and the album is the fastest selling album !! downloading is really bad !!!

Don't believe that for a minute Anto - to release a single months before an album and generate such hype there is certainly marketing involved. Also the whole not doing interviews thing is another marketing ploy to add a bit of mystique to the band.

IMO they haven't brought anything new to the table that Kaisers / Strokes / Kings of Leon haven't done.

I think they're alright but I just don't get the hype. Maybe you can explain it Anto.

EDIT: Anto you need a lesson in doing quotes. You always seem to get it wrong. The last quote has to have a "[" at the start.

I've been listening to it all week and I think its class. I was a bit wary of the hype cos the hype has previously produced the likes Kaiser Chiefs/Franz Ferdinand etc. who are just cheesy crap with a couple of decent songs but the Arctic Monkeys are'nt.

I have Franz Ferdinands 2 albums and Kaiser Chiefs album and I can honestly say that this is faw better than the other 3. Even though I love FF, I just think this is brilliant, far better than i thought it would have been. 13 songs and 45 minutes of bliss

I have Franz Ferdinand 1st album and have heard most of their 2nd both are average at best. I alos have Employment by The Kasier Chiefs is a good album for a bit of fun pop rock but nothing special.
However what I've heard from the Arctic monkeys I've really liked and IMO their music is far superior than the other two bands. Havn't got their album yet as I'm a bit on the broke side, hope to get it in the near future though and can't wait to hear it.

Listened to album yesterday & left me cold. Maybe i need toi listen toi a few times but certainly didn't make me want to put on loop. I don't get the hype...

Going to judge it after a few listens, just listened to it this morning, its quite good but didnt blow me away first time... some good lines in it though.

ive been lucky enough to see them live , managed to blag 2 tickets to the show in manchester , brilliant !! you know when a band just has something about them you cant quite put your finger on it you cant help getting into it at the gigs .id no booze or anything else yet couldnt help dancing around like a **** :D :D

this has only happened twice before at a babyshambles gig and a pixies one .

dont know if it because it was on this weekend and is still fresh in my mind but its the second best gig ive been to .

Well, I wasn't saying Kasier's were bad just that IMO what I've heard of the Arctic monkeys is superior to the all I've heard from Kasier's.

yeah hes right all they went on was small gigs and word of mouth, although they are still pure SH!TE!!
