1. Shels
2. Derry City
3. Cork City
4. Drogheda
5. Bohs
6. Bray
7. Longford
8. Sligo Rovers.
9. UCD
10. Waterford
---------------------
11. Pats
12. Dublin City
IMO,
there will be a top 4 breakaway, with Bohs coming 5th being best of the rest.
If Shels can get their act together, I think they'll go on to win the league. Derry & Cork to be very close at seasons end but have gone for Derry to come second.
Drogs to finish 4th again. Should be better than chasing pack but a small bit off the top three.
Sligo Rovers will be signing 6 players (or at least 5) and their quality should be good enough for us to stay clear of relegation.
Shams to win 1st Division, but only just from Galway who will beat Pats in the play-off.

My opinion of Cork fans is really starting to change for the better;) :D.
|Ye'll do well 'cos you play football, most of the eL is full of pikey teams like Shels and Drugs, I mean Drogs.

Pineapple stu I know you have a thing for Doolin but I think the Drogs will challenge and be there or there abouts coming in to the back end of the season.
While I obviously do think Doolin is a gobsh!te, my opinion would be the same regardless. Keddy and Fitzpatrick (and Shelley? Don't know too much about him) are not players you add to your squad to mount a title challenge, and the amount of money which has been poured into the team merits more than a mid-table finish. The reason Drogheda didn't challenge last year is because Doolin's a poor manager, and I don't see anything to suggest that'll be any different next year. I'm not alone in thinking this either - coislaoi has already said the same on this thread, and other people have said it as well.
Obviously, you can have a different opinion to me - that's what the forum is all about. But I'm not saying Drogheda will do badly because I don't like Doolin. I'm saying they'll do badly because I think he's a poor manager.

12) Sligo - Not enough experience to make an impact at this level, lost a lot of players as well
Experience-
liam burns:more experience than probably any player in the eircom league
seán flannery:10 seasons in the eircom league

???Will you ever stop trying to promote Flannery, he's not as good as you keep going on about, ffs:rolleyes:.
As for lost players, he probably means, Kupono Low, Tim McCann, Ciaran Foley, Stephen O'Donnell and plenty more!

Who's Liam Burns?Scroll down here (http://www.sligorovers.com/player%20profiles/player_profiles_template.htm). Arguably our best defender last season, remember his name in future;).

Would, say, Gareth Farrelly, Alan Moore, Joey Ndo or most of the Shels squad not have more experience then him? ;)

I'm surprised at everyone thinking that Derry will win the league. They did well this season with no expectation on them and no European involvement.
This season will be a different kettle of fish as they compete in Setanta, Europe and the domestic competitions.
That will show them up as also rans again this season.
Ah I smell fear!!! Peadar, I notice in your post that you neglect to mention (that up to and including your post) that 5 peeps think we'll come second, 6 think we'll come third, 5 think we'll come fourth, and one thinks we'll come 5th. But NO, you have to jump on the fact that 6 think we'll win it. Whether you like it or not Peadar most people actually think we'll finish lower next season - but you STILL had to get all defensive about the 6. And why? To a Corkonian like yourself, even this simple thread is a competition that Cork HAS to win.
Hows this for a second string Peadar? (team choice courtesy Maribor)
_________Jennings________
Deery_ Mokendi_ Oman_ McChrystal
Cash_ Doherty_ Higgins_ Brennan
___McHugh_____ O'Flynn____
That team alone could finish in the top 3-4!!!
Personally I think Shels will win the league - especially if they carry their form over from the end of last season. I think Derry will come second again. With Cork 3rd. Drogs 4th. Bohs 5th. Longford 6th. Sligo 7th. Pats 8th. Bray 9th. UCD 10th. Dublin City 11th. Waterford 12th.
For some reason or other I have a feeling that Cork will implode slightly this year - don't know why, maybe complacency? cockiness?

Or could it be wishful thinking on your part?:p ;)
Sadly I'd have to agree that Waterford United are in big trouble for next year.At the moment we've the grand total of 5 players for the upcoming season. Most of last seasons squad have apparently decided to jump ship even though they were offered the same or better contracts according to Mike Kerley on the radio last night. Our budget is small so looks like we'll be relying on junior league players and rejects from other squads that no-one has signed yet to make up the numbers.:(
I can see Shelbourne winning back the league next season.

glad to see there's some ppl writin us off at last which they are entitled to do. just bcos we havent signed many yet doesn't mean we're not gonna sign any1(english transfer window only opened 2 wks ago). our manager won't sign any auld random eircom league sh*t players like other lazy managers
i think we could do with a couple of these "****" eL players that know what its all about rather than some guy over from england that thinks he is in for a great time

i like burnys but to say he has more experience than any player in the eL is just a fallacy really! he had a few years in the middle of the english leagues

burns has played 160 league games in england most of em at a standard equal to or higher than the eL. any player sc could have signed from eL would have to have been released by another club. if they have been released&we can afford em it's very doubtful that they'd be much better than what we have. personally i'm pretty happy with connor's signings so far, i don't think any of em are here for "a great time". i can think of better places to go than the north west of ireland if ur lookin for a great time. the type of players i expect to be signed by feb22 will be similar to those that mcstay signed back in the day...young, hungry, ambitious&have a point to prove.
