The FAI last night officially ratified the first ever Local Football Partnership in the Country.

The Brandon Hotel, Tralee was the venue as FAI CEO, Mr John Delaney, and Technical Director Packie Bonner, formally launched the Kerry LFP, which has been selected as one of only 5 Pilot Schemes to pave the way forward for future local football partnerships throughout Ireland.

The launch was attended by club representatives from

* the Kerry District and Kerry Schoolboys League,
* the Kerry Referees Society,
* Ursula Barrett of the Kerry Local Sports Partnership,
* The Institute of Technology, Tralee,
* representatives from Local Community / Voluntary Groups,
* Local Government Agencies,
* the MC of both the Kerry District and Schoolboys Leagues,
* the FAI Regional Development Officer, Tom O’Shea,
* the Munster FA Representative (and Kerry District League Secretary) Mr. John O’Regan,
* Kerry District League Chairman, Sean O'Keeffe,
* Vice Chairperson of the Kerry Schoolboy's League, Mr. Michael Lyne,
* the FAI Analyst Brian McCarthy,
* Chaiperson of the Kerry LFP, Mr James Finnegan,
* Kerry County Council Chairperson, Toireasa Ní Fhearaíosa ,
* and other local dignatories.

The launch was a very smooth, well run affair with many speakers on the night. All were agreed that Kerry Soccer has been given a huge vote of confidence by the FAI in being selected not only as one of the Pilot Areas but by being the first Area to be launched.

While the Technical Development Plan sets out the aims and objectives for the development of the game until 2008 within this framework The Local Football Partnership brings together the key stakeholders and external agencies within the county to identify and prioritise local needs/requirements and to develop a strategy and action plan based on the Technical Development Plan."
