If you're booked on a trip with a Travel Agency that begins with 3 digits then I suggest you get your "guaranteed" match tickets asap.

Having experienced travelling with these guys at first hand I can safely say that you really would have to be off your head to use them.

Just wondering.. anyone go to Stuttgart with travel agents ? Has anyone improved in anyway ?

just in the process of planning my first away trip.

hostel €30 for the two of us (1 night)
car hire €40 for two
return flights on ryanair (dublin-stansted-ancona-stansted-dublin) €175 for two

and €22 quid each for match tickets from the fai (though we may end up having to pay 50-ish out there if things don't go to plan)

all in all, under €150 each. Why would anyone use an agent? Lets face it, from the stories on here, they only slightly improve your chances of getting tickets.

Exactly. And if my experience of going to the Faroes - actually we got as far as gate B27 in Dublin Airport and no explanation - with E-Travel is anything to go by . . . . don't bother with agents! Money-grabbing wasters.

You do mean gate B27 to C13 to B27 don't you? Useless shower.

In case you think it is just fans of the national team screwed by travel agents Gerry MxcMahon travel have flights to Athens, 2 nights in a 3* hotel and a match ticket for the bargain price of 2,400 pps.

I got flights for less than 300 euro on Wednesday, Sofitel (prob a 4* or even 5*)for approx 70 euro pps (3 sharing). now match tickets are obviously a problem but even in their wildest dreams the Greek touts won't get 2K a ticket.

Watch the price drop consideraly if it's Chelsea v Milan. :D

It doesn't justify the touts. touts in suits or otherwise. They do this for Irish away games too even when tickets aren't a problem. They just charge what the market can bear. There is nothing like the same markup on your 2 week holiday in the sun.

BTW a friend of mine paid £800 for a ticket for last year's final outside minutes befire kickoff. Still crazy I'll admit. However that was Paris which is easily and cheaply accessible from London. Athens is not easily accessible. It is already very expensive to go there nad far fewer will travel without tickets. I believe tickets were not a major problem in Istanbul. My sister paid STG£250 in Barcelona in 1999 and tickets were readily available at that price.

We paid €400 each for Istanbul, and outside the stadium just before police barrier, there was 2 Irish blokes selling tickets for face value!! F..king sick.

But hey the best European Final, would have paid anything to be there:D

That's going to take a while, isn't it? I heard it was a 5 hr train journey.

Seems a rip off to me. Flights should be no more than €200. So you're paying 450 for 5 nights in a hotel and one train journey?

Surely there's cheaper available

My mate booked a week in Slovakia, flights and hotel for around €450 last week so €650 is a fair price in comparison to what they usually charge.

SuperDave

£150 flights on expedia - dublin - vienna on 7th, prague - dublin on 13th.

€40 for two nights in a hostel in bratislava and about €80 in prague for four nights. Nearer €350, though more when you count the train ticket to prague however much that is.

Not Stein Travel or Twohigs!!

I went with them to Cyrprus, they kicked anyone who booked with Stein/Twohigs off at one side of the Island and on to a bus while the plane still went on to the other side half empty!

The bus took 3 hours (25 minutes for the plane), bags were stolen and they have never paid out on the travel insurance, or even sent the forms NEVER AGAIN !!

Sadly, with the bulk of tickets for away games going to the boy Crazy, the RISSC tends to only organise trips to the places not featured in our forthcoming campaign.:(

I dispute that, the bulk of tickets for away games are distributed directly to fans by the ticket office, only away game tickets were scarce for in the last yrs was Basle MK1

The only game tickets may be scarce for will be Montenegro & Italy but given our ability to source tickets I doubt if there will be shortage for either game.

Travel agents ,I do hate these people I must say but my wife has just informed me that our Bari trip has cost to date Euro 1680 for two of us , due to cancelled flights booking two extra flights , train trips and so on . that's a hard one to swallow at the moment .

e200 each (roughly) at the minute if:

dublin - stansted, sunday morning, first flight

stansted - bari, monday morning

bari - stansted, friday morning

stansted - dublin, friday evening

so that's 400, plus 400 for accommodation for yourself and the good wife here: http://www.hostelworld.com/availability.php/Casina-Murgecchia-Fano/Bari/16724

plus car rental for about 100 from autoeurope (the cheapest i could find)....

all in all, the trip could currently be arranged for about half of what you have paid already.... just to make you feel better, you understand.

Without doubt if the game was to be played Rome and airlines and strikes were not on , I think we could have got away at least with 40% of that total . I booked flights in December and it has been problems ever since . Still sofia is as cheap as chips , errrrrr better now speak to soon I think . :o

In life someone will always do cheaper or more expensive but what hurts the most when you have to book two extra flights each , two trains trips and a night in a hotel in London this is the killer when none of these were planned . Yes Hornet you have a point :(
