Denis Leary is unreal.
Peter Key is very good too.

Went to 'Live at Jouglers' (sp?) a while back and it was seriously one of the best nights ever. A must if you are in Camden.

The Comedy Club (http://www.thecomedyclub.ie/) in Cork is the citys best kept secret, there are some great gigs up there, loads of hen nights too !! ;) ... the sky bar is good crack too.

There are some great Irish comedians out there, well worth the money (give away)

Well his second and latest. Definitely a con job, but then the Blackpool DVD is the better one anyway. To think the year before I left Manch I was watching him in the Frog and Bucket pub...

Steve Coogan - now there's one I forgot. Get hold of Live and Dangerous, or 3 fights, 2 weddings and a funeral. :D

I believe what you saying to be true, I believe his No Cure For Cancer album is a blatant rip-off. In saying that, I know nothing about Hicks and of course will never get to see him live, I have seen Leary live and find him to be funny guy though.

As for Peter Kay, I remember getting an email ten years ago when I was still in secondary school which was "50 strange facts" and had jokes like "there's always a bad chip in a bag of chips" and "the smaller the monkey the more likely it is to kill you" which years later Peter Kay put in his act as his own joke, which IMO it clearly wasn't.

Well my tip would be to go to play.com and order some Bill Hicks Cd's or DVDs they are top class and the man was a comic genius. At one point THe American Media were so stupid that they accused Hicks of ripping Leary off.

Another Bill Hicks fav of mine was the trucker(Reginald Denny?) being attacked by the rioters:D

The man was doing all this at the end of the 80's and begining of the 90's hated bush senior so it is such a pity we couldn't have him around for Clinton and Bush Jr.

The others just pail in comparison. Pryor would be the closest but his was always a Bio, Hicks was always interested in hunting down Billy Ray Cyrus

We could fill the site with funnies from this man, streets ahead of the rest
the auld Pro-Lifer, If your so Pro life don't protest ouside abortion clinics join hands and blockade the graveyards if your so flucking pro-life....... classic.

I'm not a girl, I'm a guy you know? But at the same time, I tell ya how you can solve this abortion issue right now. Ready? Those unwanted babies that single moms leave in alleys and in dumpsters? Leave about 12 of those on the steps of The Supreme Court. This is over. Like that. "You guys said we had to have them? Then you guys...****ING RAISE 'EM." "Raise 'em then, you ****ing ****ing raise 'em. YOU raise 'em. You said I had to have it? Then it's yours. ****. It's yours..Take it"

How come people always flip and think they're Jesus? Why not Buddha? Particularly in America, where more people resemble Buddha than Jesus. 'Ah'm BUDDHA!' 'You're Bubba!' 'Ah'm Buddha now..All I gotta do is change 3 letters on ma belt...'

- Bill Hicks

See I think drugs have done some good things for us. If you don't think drugs have done good things for us then do me a favor. Go home tonight and take all of your records, tapes and all your CD's and burn them. Because, you know all those musicians who made all that great music that's enhanced your lives throughout the years? Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreal ****ing high on drugs, man.

You know all that money we spend on the military ever year - trillions of dollars? Instead, if we use this money to feed and clothe the poor of this world, which it would do many times over, then we can explore space, inner and outer, together, as one race.

My final point about alchohol, about drugs, about Pornography...What business is it of your's what I do, read, buy, see or take into my body as long as I don't harm another human being whilst on this planet? And for those of you having a little moral dilemna on how to answer this, I'll answer for you. NONE OF YOUR ****ING BUSINESS Take that to the bank, cash it and take it on a vacation outta my ****ing life. And stop bringing shotguns to UFO sightings, they might be here to pick me up and take me with 'em.

Obnoxious , self-righteous, whining little ****s. My biggest fear is that if I quit smoking, I'll become one of you...Don't take that wrong. I have something to tell you non-smokers that I know for a fact that you don't know, and I feel it's my duty to pass on information at all times. Ready?.......Non-smokers die every day...Enjoy your evening. See, I know that you entertain this eternal life fantasy because you've chosen not to smoke, but let me be the 1st to POP that bubble and bring you hurtling back to reality....You're dead too.

I generally love my job. You know what the great thing about being a comic is? I have no boss. That's a definate lifestyle plus isnt it?..Aren't bosses something?.....They're like gnats at a picnic man....Get the **** out of here buddy, it's just a job, doesn't mean a thing. The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride... And we... kill those people.

What did moths bump into before the electric light bulb was invented? Boy, the lightbulb really screwed the moth up didn't it? Are there moths on their way to the sun now going, "It's gonna be worth it!"

Did you know that if you play the New Kids On The Block record backwards, it actually sounds better.

- Bill Hicks

I was told when I grew up I could be anything I wanted: a fireman, a policeman, a doctor - even president, it seemed. And for the first time in the history of mankind, something new, called an astronaut. But like so many kids brought up on a steady diet of westerns, I always wanted to be the avenging cowboy hero - that lone voice in the wilderness, fighting corruption and evil wherever I fount it, and standing for freedom, truth, and justice. And in my heart of hearts I still track the remnants of that dream wherever I go, in my endless ride into the setting sun.

Going to see Karl Spain there again next Friday night. Here's (http://www.modelart.ie/events/comedy_archive.html) the archive of who has performed there since it started. Ticket's are only €12 too:eek:. Great value when you compare it to what you'd pay to see them in some place else:).

Dennis Leary(no cure for cancer) Billy Connolly(live at the Albert Hall) Eddie Murphy(Delirious), Peter Kay, they're all brilliant, but for me none of them could hold a candle to Ronnie Barker RIP.

On the Irish front, Jon Kenny, Pat Shortt, Dermot Morgan and Deirdre O'Kane are my favs.

Just think he like any sports team with Cork in the name, he spent several years at college there and I think Cork is where his ancestors were from.

He told that Sligo Rovers fat Joke in Letterkenny too, Harps also got a mention, he said he was sad to see them go down but said they would be right back up next year, then back down and back up, just like a yo yo.

I went to see Dara O'Briain in Vicar Street before Christmas, was'nt that impressed, all he did was slag a couple of people in the audience off for most the show. I found it fairly lame because at the end of the day anybody can slag someone and sound funny.
