Only a Bohs fan would set a minimum goal as winning the league by more points. FFS who gives a crap how many points you win a league by. Might explain why so many Bohs managers hounded out by their supporters.

How many Bohs managers were hounded out by Bohs fans in recent years? One. Peter "Do a trick Trevor" Mahon.

McGrath was sacked before any backlash. Luckily for us.
Roddy was sacked because of a clash with the board and contract issues. Nothing to do with fans.
Mahon, OK yes. He was a disaster though and he should have been pushed before he jumped. Were the fans wrong to be unhappy with the best and most expensive team in Ireland fighting relegation?
Kenny as Bohs manager got stick for one game, and only for about 20 minutes of that game. He even says that himself. Hounded out? Obviously not.
Farrelly is manager and isn't getting any stick.

How many Cork managers have been hounded out by the fans in recent years? More than Bohs I would guess.

EDIT: You are also twisting my words. I said in the original post "you should expect to match last year's achievements, and hope to improve upon them IMO." No mention of points. When you amazingly asked how Cork could have a better season I gave several examples of how you could, one of which was winning the league more comfortably. Though rolling your eyes gives your post an amazing credibility.

What about...

winning by more points
(That it wasn't in your initial post is irrelevant - you did mention points)

He asked how you could improve on first in the league. Sensible answer - you can't. Your answer - progress further in Europe, Setanta, etc, none of which has anything to do with the league.

I acknowledged that in my last post. And the thread is titled 2006 season, not 2006 league.

Minimum is not the same as expectation. It is the minimum you will accept before season is a disaster.

City fans will expect the team to win the league but minimum for all the top clubs is European qualification & not sure if InterTwoBob counts as that anymore.

To be fair Tiktok, Cork should be looking to finish first and no less IMO. Finishing 3rd would be hugely disappointing for your club I think.

you should expect to match last year's achievements, and hope to improve upon them IMO.

Reading your posts on our hopes/expectations for next season is irritating. The best thing for you to do, I humbly suggest, is to stick to the hopes/expectations for Bohs forthcoming season and leave us out of your banal musings.

Tough to say at this early stages with any new signings or players leaving, but...........

Minimum - To finish outside the bottom 2 places and have a decent cup run, like last season

Hoping - With the right signings we can finish in the top half of the league table, maybe even a european place or a cup win this time around. Investment into the club to drive us forward to take on the likes of Shels, Derry Cork and Drogs. A new Carlisle Grounds please ;-)

Get your head out of your arss you twot. Any Cork fan who says that they won't be calling Richardson a "langer" if he doesn't bring home the bacon this year is a liar.

They're in my first post that you have read so thoroughly you little genius.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me how many managers us big bad Bohs fans "hounded" out, and how many Cork fans did.

That's good yeah - resort to personal insults. I REPEAT, stick to your own club's hopes/expectations. Leave us liars/langers/twots (and whatever else you want to call us) out of it.

BTW you should read all your posts again. A mass of contradictions.;)

First Post (http://foot.ie/showpost.php?p=414632&postcount=45)

However in another post you mention what you hoping for so no minimum expectation...

I would say just Liam Murphy could be described in that way.

Minimum: That I can enjoy a fair sporting competition without any silly changes to the league format being introduced.

Hopeing: Qualify for the UEFA through the fair play award, beat Barcelona in the final having knocked out Celtic and Man United along the way and for Trinity to finish bottom of the U21 league.

Then you shouldn't have quoted the part of the post which specifically referred to Cork's league spot. You can't expect to improve on first in the league with a record points haul.

Still you are harping on about one of several elaborations made when I was asked how Cork can have a better season? Why exactly? Your opinion on this matter is clear, as is mine, give it a rest.

You can't expect to improve on first in the league with a record points haul.Actually that's not true. They could get even more points next season, score more goals and concede less. That would all be an improvement with Cork City in the league;) :p. I feel so honoured, I proved a UCD fella wrong:rolleyes:.

Minimum: Gonna say survival but I think we will be ok.

Hoping: Good position in the league, larger crowds in Flancare, am I asking to much for a cup final?

But my point the whole way is that can't be a minimum expectation - a hope maybe, but not an expectation. So ThatGuy was, in my opinion, wrong to knock Tiktok's minimum expectation when in fact the pos was about the first recorded evidence of a Cork fan with his feet actually somewhere near the ground!

Minimum - Fifth in the league, a couple of good cup runs.

Hoping - To win the league, but top 3 (with Euro and Setanta qualification) would be a significant improvement.

Like That Guy, not too confident about the season ahead...

Minimum: A Cup, good run in Europe, top two

Hoping: Win everything we are in and qualify for UEFA Cup thru intertoto, all Irish sides do well in Europe and for everything I have planned to work :)

As a Longford man my expectations for the coming season are very low. We've lost a couple of quality players and there are no signs as yet of any quality replacements. In addition to other areas we also lack a natural goal scorer and I was half hoping that we might snatch Kevin McCugh. I've little faith in the current management set up and i'm predicting a long hard season which will probably end up at mid-table mediocrity.

Minimum: top two finish in the league, winning some silverwear and doing well in Europe

Hopefully: League Champions, Setanta cup winners, FAI Cup Winners,Intertoto cup winners, Uefa Cup.... ok i'll stop now.

I'm also hopefull I won't have to rely on Gareth for updates as much this season as I'll actually get to more games.

Not too much to ask is it. :D
