How long has the gaffer got left at the helm.
He has done a great job to date considering a team that small has won three cups in two years but I honestly believe that he was lucky enough to have taken on a team that Stephen Kenny has built from scratch and the lads as a unit done it through hard work and determination.Surely the chance of building the success of yesteryear was their your a boss such as Damien Richardson to bring a few decent signings in and puch the club on to a different level. When Kenny was there talk of a professional set up was in order but when Matthew's came in all he brought to the club were fellas that hadn't cut it at the very top level for example Dave Byrne , Alan Cawley , Des Baker , Andy Myler , Dean Fitz and the list goes on and releases probably the two best young centre halfs in the country Sean Dillon & Graeme gartland not to mention Barry Ferguson , Digger and a club stalwart in Alan Murphy. Please someone tell me how these guys can bring the club on from where they currently stand.I believe a lot of money has been wasted in recent years i.e Keegan ( €900 a week for a lad that can't score goals )..!!
Bad signings and man management has brought Longford into the dark ages and from what I am led to believe regarding the Arkins deal..that just puts the nail in the coffin for The gaffer come Mid-Season.
Good Luck Longford Town as you are a fantastic club and deserve much more.;)

I have a feeling it's only going to go into decline for Longford. They've lost a lot of key players. At least for their sake they've managed to hold onto Prunty and Paisley.

Poor Student I do Question whether Prunty & paisley have signed their contracts to date like so many others that have been promised and have since fled the coop..!!
Any word on those signings longfordian...since you seem to know what everybody's on etc..??

He has another year on his contract with us so I dont think he's signing for ye unless ye're buying him.

As Longfordian said, can't see it happening for now. Could see it happening next year though when his contract is up.

The sooner longford get rid of matthews, the sooner they'll be back to being most people's favourtie other team, and the sooner they'll actually have a chance of competing for trophies. The man is an absolute cancer on this league

Are you still píssed from New Years or fookin what Eanna? He's brought us 3 trophies, he doesn't have to prove fook all. Particularly to clubs that well run they let 3 young players walk out of this league for the cost of one of their medical bills. Cork City, the model for all clubs

How many of the 2003 Cup Final team were Kenny signings? I reckon 5 (Digger, Murph, Vinny, Prunty, Kirby), might be wrong - killed a load of braincells over the holidays! And Kirby was only with Kenny a couple of months and was a big money signing.

A serious question, as this is often trotted out, and I honestly can't remember.

Team that day (iirc) Digger, Murph, Barry, McGovern, Dillon, Kirby, Vinny, Pip, Prunty, Barrett and Seanie

Not getting on your case macy or been Kenny Groupies just proving the fact that Matthews just inherited a very good squad from Stephen who I believe brought the club from dark ages to where they are now...

Where did the very good squad finish the year before Matthews took over, and what position were we in when he (Kenny) walked out? Seeing as it was such a good squad an all...

Well said Macy. As if Kenny ever really saw us as anything other than a stepping-stone.

It was put on the official site that these 4 players, Paisley, Prunty, Martin and Baker, have signed new contracts. I doubt that the club would let something like that be put on the official site if it wasnt 100% truth.
