Thats some night you have planned anto...

Myself I'll be staying in with Miss Dodge. I absolutely hate New year's eve. Such a fake night where people who don't go out all year get pished "because you hvae to, its new years eve..."

Probably a house party, bars/clubs/gigs to be avoided, far too crowded

A mate rented a house in Liscannor. Did it for the Millennium, worked out quite well because we avoided all the kissing and hugging complete strangers crap.

New Years, in general, sucks the sweat off a dead man's balls. It's just another bloody day people, get over it.

Another thing i hate about New Years is paying a cover charge into a bar where i have been going all year .... i think that is a serious kick in the teeth for regulars, basically two fingers up to the punter for one of 'the biggest nights of the year' !!

I usually just spend New Years in a house with a group of friends - its a waste of time going out. Its Galway this year.
Stephens night is the worst night of the year to go out - the pubs are packed and there's just no point. I'm going to stay in this year.

Xmas Eve is the big session at home. I love that day - everyone is in great form and we always hit the same pub in Kilkenny around 6. Usually won't have seen most people since the previous Xmas.

As this is our 1st new year with 8 month old lionel jnr we'll be doing something at home -probably have a few friends over.

Let me know if you're dropping in in case I'm having a nap or send me a PM and I'll give youse my phone number if you're gonna call. Another few dozen in Hamish Mansons at this stage will make no difference. LOL

Happy Christmas and New year from Footyland's DOM.:D

LOL - have to admit though sligoman, Beeslow is well and truly fcuked this Christmas. This time last year, Dubarry Shoes let go most of the workers but still the redundancy money filtered into the local businesses. This year......all factories gone. Only Portiuncula Hospital and a few smaller firms are going and the town is really showing it. We've lost about 1500 jobs in the last 10 years (plus the knock on jobs too) and it has devasted the town. When you consider the core population is 4,000 - that's a big blow.
As a result South Roscommon, East and North Galway, the nearest parts of Offaly (Shannonbridge is only 9 miles) away and other parts in the town hinterland are fcuked too.
This time a couple of years ago, Square D shut down - 350 jobs gone - and moved to Mexico where the workers were paid per month what they were paid per week here. The week Square D shut down was the week it opened up in Mexico. Guess who was visiting Mexico that very time? - yeah, Bertie Aherne. That went down well here. He didn't visit us though, the prize bolllix.

Athlone, Roscommon town and Galway is also attracting a lot of shoppers too which doesn't help.

Hope it doesn't happen to your places.

I much prefer New Years Day, haven't went out for New Years Eve for about 5 years. Got sick of waiting ages for a pint and hugging and kissing strangers/people you don't particularly like.

me and all of me pals have always done a pub crawl every year, theres a street called Manor St down by my house, it has 9 pubs on it so we start at the bottom and work our way up to our local which is at the top! nice way to spend it with pals and have a load of banter along the way! none of this entrance fee lark either!

well folks have a good one and sure if any of ye are stuck for somewhere to go we can all crash at Hamishes!:D
