Starting to look more and more likely that he will stay
I have to ask though will his heart be in it next season
I'm sure he would love to move to Djurgardens

And if you don't sell you miss out on bout 300,000. Shels have far higher running costs and if you don't make the champions league qualifiers for 2007 you's could be fcuked! Yous need the money far more than we do.
Says Shels offical accountant here...
We'll be missing out on 200,000 it seems, and he's worth more than that. So if that's all were getting no deal I'd say, looks like that's the case. We keep him, I'm happy, from Brays point of view it's a missed chance, at least we still have our 20+ league goals. Doesn't seem to make sense from their point of view but how and however, if it means we keep Byrne I'm happy.

I dont want to sell byrne for peanuts. I think we can do very well next season. MAybe even get passed the 3 rounds in the inter to to, do well in the setanta cup and possibly win the league.
€200,000 isnt big money but €600,000 is. Its a simple choice really. If Djurgardens and Bray dont co-operate then its no worrie for me.

I love it - Shels saying that if the other two don't cooperate no deal. So should the Swedes increase the offer cause of a sell on clause to someone else? You must be joking!
As for Bray, this is a classic game of poker, Shels asking Bray to reduce their rights now, maybe Shels should have asked for that when they signed the player in the first place!
Shels don't need the money? Is this the same Shels who'll sign Sean Dillon if he doesen't cost any money?
They can play it cool all they like but Shels ain't that well off that can't do without 200,000!

If it was Bray selling and Shels looking for 50% of the sell on, I think we know Ollie would get his 50%.
On another note. Is the initial fee Shels paid for Byrne deducted from the Sell on Clause?
ie if Byrne was sold to shels for 100,000 , Shels sell for 600,000. Do Bray get 50% of the fee or 50% of the profit? ie 300,000 or 250,000.
If they get 50% of the actual fee they will have made the bones of 400,000 altogether from the sale of Byrne and Shels 200,000 profit.

We can do without it if we still have the league's top striker. Its not like we're just being given the money

In today's indo:
Sterling sports report
Sir - I was surprised to read in Gerry McDermott's article today, December 13, that Shelbourne could be selling top scorer Jason Byrne for £600,000Stg
Why was a transfer fee between an Irish and a Sweedish club quoted in the British currency?
An example, I think, of Anglo-centric sports writing.

If you can do without it why would you only sign Sean Dillon if you get him for nothing? No point playing the poor mouth on one side and turning down 20% of next years wages budget on the other!

Byrne deal spells end for 'bargin basement'
THe last few days have show that the bargin basement is alive and well. Im aware that the players in question refused to sign new contracts because they were trying to jump ship as soon as possible but its still a disapointment.
