Biography
The tall Irish midfielder came successfully through the youth ranks and signed professional terms with the club in April 1998.

He is a free-scoring midfielder who clocked up 15 goals in the 1998 youth team.

He has played on the Republic of Ireland U18 squad and has a good touch and a fine sense of anticipation.

He made his debut in the 2:1 victory over Wolves in September 1999. Last season he found himself out of favour until the Boxing Day trip to Wrexham when he started in the unaccustomed role of striker due to dire injury problems.

Further opportunities were remote and at the end of the season he was placed on the transfer list.

Does anyone know exactly what position he plays? A fella told me last night that he's an out-and-out striker... It says there he's a midfielder... I thought he was a pacy right-winger... ???

from OneValeFan (http://www.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=921&p=2&stid=167014)

"O'Callaghan earned a first team debut under John Rudge at just 18 years of age and impressed with his skill, cheek and belligerent range of ball skills - which earned comparisons with George Best."

However he is also described as being slightly built, so I hope he can put up with de rigours of eL play.

Plus he does have an unfortunate tendency to lose height ...

Cork City are as big if not bigger than a lot of clubs in your second division, with the exception of the elite such as Stoke (not Port Vale)

They desreved it. The Cheek! The problem with suppoerters of Clubs like that in Ingerland is that they all think they are Real Madrid, not a has been going nowhere club, that they really are :)

Has to be more than a rumour as I heard that over here in the States - suppose to be a bit of an all round sportsman

I didn't see anything particularily derogatory in the port vale msg board.

I still to my belief the eL around english div 2 standard but maybe of those clubs are much much better than CCFC.

No need making enemies for the sake of it.....
