There are a raft of claims going in against Eircom by ex employees whose hearing was damaged/impaired by having an ear-piece attached to their ears while working.
The noise of coins dropping into the coin boxs was particularly trouble-some
to the telephonists.

Whats next for a claim out there then?......."Eh the trainer said that doing them push-ups/sprints would make me fitter, now me back's wrecked:rolleyes: "

Read that as well. Joe Soap taxpayer will fit the bill too. Apparently they didn't even know had lost hearing in one ear until they were tested  FFS everyone gradually loses their hearing as they get older. I wonder can they prove not been to rock concert, stood next to jackhammer etc...?

And what if it was caused by the equipment that eircom were using? Do companies have no responsibilities to employee's? Sure ditch the health and safety legislation - if people go up scaffolding that collapses, well sure it's their own fault anyway....
