If this is true it will be quite a test for him.1 Season at Kilkenny dosen't make him a good manager but it is certainly a risk worth taking on Rovers behalf seen as things can't get a whole lot worse.
BTW Is Roddy due any compo from Rovers?

Supposedly so.
As for Pat, I'm not sure he'll be up to it.

I think it is a perfect time to come in to a club of Rovers past size!! If he does bad, well he was working in a tough environment, if he does well he will be hailed a hero. Win win??

Gotta be a good move for him, and Rovers. He will do a good job there most likely!

I'm not sure it's such a good move for him tbh. He really had his KK team on the march in the latter half of the season, and if he held on to the side he had I would have tipped them to be in the top two, splitting Rovers and Harps. Way more presure to deliver now

Can't wait to beat Rovers next season and beat them to promotion.
I wouldn't be suprised to see us get Brendan Rea as replacement.
Well considering a lot thought he wouldn't do a job at Kilkenny!!!! I reckon he's the man for the job good luck Pat

Shamrock Rovers FC are pleased to announce the appointment of Pat Scully as
the Hoops' new manager. Scully will be unveiled at a press conference next
week as he is currently out of the country.
``It was vitally important that we made an appointment as soon as possible,''
says Rovers' chairman Jonathan Roche. ``And we feel Pat is the ideal man for
the job: he's young, ambitious and had a great season with Kilkenny.
``He's on holiday this week, but we wanted a message to go out to everyone -
especially the fans and the players - that Shamrock Rovers mean business.
Next season starts now.''
Welcome back Pat. The fans will back you all the way.

Think he ment that he may not be up to managing a club with such high expectations, cos no disrespect intended, Killkenny hardly have that much in the way of expectations do they? Have to say he did do a good job with Killkenny, but have to agree 100% with Super Frank. Rovers will be the team in the first division that everyone wants to beat next year, and their is a lot of responsibility on Scully's shoulders.

A good appointment. of course there will be pressure and expectations involved. i think everyone here expects rovers to come straight back up but if they dont i dont think the club will be sacking the manager. the club is now run by an astute bunch and i expect pat scully will be given time to put a squad together. I think Pat is fully up to the job and i'm sure he'll do a good job of it.

Is there any truth to that ??
Who will be with the Blues next year ??

True but the way his salary will be structured it'll be in his best interests to get Rovers promoted next season, although by the looks of things there will be no promotion or relegation for the 2007 season

good appointment, he comes across on tv as having a bit of mass between the ears, something surprisingly few el managers appear to have...
from a footballing point of view what he done in the second half of the season was impressive, given kk's budget etc.
can any of the first division fans tell us what kinda football kilkenny played under scully- is he a longball merchant or do they get the ball down and play

Going to be hard, especially as (from my source) he'll be bringing at least 3 of your players with him

Someone came on here before and noted how many players he'd brought in on loan. Kilkenny will lose all those players and obviously he didn't have the faith in the players he had.
I don't call that great management.

He had three players on loan from us - Guthrie, McCarthy & Lally. In fairness he had to do something at the start of the season - they were losing all around them. The arrival of those 3 and a couple more on loan co-incided with a with a massive increase in form (they won something like 12 out of 13 I think).
I think he has great potential as a manager as long as Rovers fans give him time to settle.

sure he has until at least the end of March...we'll have him sussed by then
BTW Is Roddy due any compo from Rovers?
Shoddy thinks so, but the long drawn out process by Rovers was obviously to avoid paying him anything.

Pat Scullys appointment was a great move for the supporters of all clubs in the first division (okay maybe not Kilkenny) because it gives us prime abuse fodder in the Shamrocks Rovers dugout after being denied the chance of a go at that other uber-Dub superplank Shoddy Roddy :)
He is an excellent manager. Of the 3 lads from Cork only one (Guthrie) made a real impact, Lally looks a lovely player but didnt do it for us. McCarthy was on the bench for us at first but soon got his place and did reasonably well - scored a few good goals. Im gutted that Scully has left us but Im sure he will do a very good job at Rovers.
Btw what players do you think will follow Pat to Rovers hoopy?
I hope its not Aidan Price and Tadhg Purcell but it probobly will be. They were our two best players this season and Scully brought them both to the club, they are signed up for next year with us though!
On another note I was very surprised to learn he had gone to Rovers as he was talking about his plans for next season with us in the local papers alot
