It was always gonna happen. If they didn't sack him he would have left.

Doubt it...he was holding out for a golden handshake. I'd much rather give him a golden shower. Fair play to Rovers new board for doing everything by the book and giving the w@nker everything he deserves.

I believe there will be a Heroes Homecoming party for him in Dalymount for the great work he's done in the last 12 months :p
Rumours are that the Long Bar which is currently been renovated will be renamed The Roddy Collins Bar.

i refuse to be ieve that roddy was an agent for bohs on the grounds that if he was then shamrock rovers would have ended the season at least mid table :)

yeah, people forget we finished 8th.
great news, the Rovers board played it exactly by the book so we arent exposed to any unfair dismissal type lawsuits.
rumour has it he will be working as a brickie on our new stadium in tallaght when building resumes in February.
This been on the cards for few months. No surprise. I hear Roddy was given official legal warnings & all sorts so that Rovers could get rid of him without threat of being sued...

Fair play the board handled the situation admirably
this is possibly an action that could have far reaching consequences
similar to the Bosman thing,
Im sure there are more than a few clubs in england sorry they didn't go this road with some of their dodgy managers

like Cork, Shels, Waterford and Kildare? Every side in Italy, France, Spain, Germany and Greece?
Someone from the North talking about bleeding the state? 60% chance you are a civil servant, if you even work.
You are literally the only harps fan that has a bad word to say about us. so i assume this is for the wind up value alone.

most managers are sacked because of poor league positions. That is subjective.
Roddy was for more specific 'not doing his job' in the first place ones. I.e train the players.
Different mechanisms.

so we can rule out you working in a school, hospital, council job, library, community scheme or servicing any of the above? that puts you in a minority in your subsidied little 6 counties.....

A great day for Irish football .... well done to all involved. Its great to see the bold progressive advances being made off the pitch and can only go to bolster the efforts being made on the pitch.
This could very well be the break the Shamrock Rovers football club were looking for. Best of luck to them in the future, but i'm sure if they continue to manage the club with the same degree of intent, then they wont need luck at all.
Keep On Hooping !!!

Fair play and the correct decision. Just shows how much of a w@nker Roddy really is, I mean the people at Bohemians, Carlisle, Dublin City and Shamrock Rovers can't all be wrong! According to the radio this evening he is interested in the Newry job, if I were them I'd stay well away from him aswell. They'll only be another "stepping stone" back to his dream career across the water!

The guy should just step back from it .... give it a rest a while. Even go off and get coaching badges or something but it aint working out for him right now. Everything he touches just goes to shíte !! Call it a fupping day for gods sake.
yeah, people forget we finished 8th.
Well done.

That should be cheery news for the 4oo Club. Plenty of money there to throw away on lawyers.

Wildly off-topic, but hard to ignore!
What a strange political mixture -- North-hating old-school Shinner meets public service-hating PD. Let's hope this coalition gets relegated before it catches on!
Does this mean that no one with a job in a school, hospital, library etc. or who doesn't hold a RIRA membership card is welcome to join SRFC on its jamborees in the league's nether regions next year?

I presume that with the rigmarole of the suspensions the new directors of Rovers are making sure they do things exactly by the book so that Roddy has no come back. Fair play to them for that.
But Roddy is a serial compo claimer. If he wasn't a football manager he'd be driving around town looking for car crashes to lie down beside.

A DEFIANT Roddy Collins insisted last night that he could have kept Shamrock Rovers in the top flight of Irish football.
Collins was pushed to the sidelines for Rovers' final three games of the season including both legs of the play-off with Dublin City which saw the Hoops relegated for the first time in their illustrious history.
He was supended on full pay for a total of 12 days and was eventually sacked by the club yesterday after just over a year in charge.
But last night he insisted that Rovers would still be in the Premier Division today if he had been left in charge of the team.
"I could have kept them up. It was always going to be about effort over those two games but the lads were all down before they even started.
"The players knew what was going on. I had worked hard to get them things like proper kit and was even paying money out of my own wages to help them. They were on a downer when I was suspended," claimed Collins.
He is now looking for a new job after being fired yesterday by Shamrock Rovers following the conclusion of an internal investigation by the club's board of directors.
Collins' departure, which was widely forecast, was finally confirmed at 2pm yesterday when the club issued the following terse statement: "Following the conclusion of an internal investigation, the Shamrock Rovers FC board of directors has resolved to terminate the contract of Roddy Collins with immediate effect".
Collins still had another season left on his contract, which is believed to have been worth around €75,000 per annum, and said he has now placed the matter in the hands of his lawyers.
