Neil Fitzhenry has played his last game for Finn Harps but player-boss Jonathan Speak is staying with the Donegalmen.

Wigan-born Fitzhenry, 23, has returned to his native England and hopes to get himself fixed up with a non-league club.

He has already guested for Barrow and Speak said: “Neil has gone and won’t be back. It’s his choice and we can’t stand in his way as he is out of contract and free to do what he likes. But we wish him the very best of luck because he served the club well.”

Fitzhenry probably would have stayed with Harps if the Donegalmen had regained their top-flight status, but they were beaten in the relegation/promotion play-off by Longford Town last month.

Hotshot Kevin McHugh could also be on his way from the Co Donegal outfit, but only if the price is right.

McHugh netted a staggering 27 league goals last season but is still under contract.

A number of clubs are sniffing after the 22-year-old frontman and Speak said: “If someone pulled up outside Finn Park with a barrowload of money we might pay some attention to what was being said. But there has been no official contact regarding Kevin.”

Speak, meanwhile, has dismissed speculation that he is on his way out of Finn Park following that spot-kick defeat.

Linfield’s Anthony Gorman was tipped to take over, but Speak, who is only half way through a two year deal, said: “I am still the manager. Nothing has changed in that respect.”

Speak has offered new deals to defenders Declan Boyle, Shane Bradley and Shane Sweeney, but they have yet to accept.
