NY Hoop, you may still be feeling the effects from numbing the pain, but what the outgoing chairman of the Supporters Club (nothing funny there) said was that he'd like to thank the people who have helped him over the past two years going on to list members of the SC, the chairman of the club, Toccy O'Connor and John Gill.

I hope your delusions keep you warm at night.

Once upon a time I cared enough to write a letter to SDCC supporting your application for planning permission. Not now though.

Well it obviously just arrived as they've finally approved it. Cheers!

The Tallaght Community Stadium is going ahead and shamrocks v Kildare County will fit in nicely between the U11s camogie trials and the local schools' sports day.

Watching rover being relegated on Friday night was one of the funniest things that I ever witnessed. A brilliant Night. I hope that we never have to see them in the PREMIER division again. Next year will prove once and for all that not having them in the top division is be a good thing. The news about them having to share with the GAA and anyone else who wants to play in the ground in Tallaght just tops it all off.. Think I might set up a monster truck club in Tallaght and apply to use the pitch..

Nice try. Anchor tenants, minimum 40 games a year, our own club house/bar and offices, 50% of all commerical revenues. I'll take that after 20 odd years of renting crumbling edifices like the stadium formerly known as the home of Irish football. And the timing of our moving in neatly coincides with our (hoped for) swift return to the top flight.

ill accept that we are wide open for dogs abuse after losing to CHF, but taking the **** out of us because we are getting a municipal stadium built for us wont wash.
if it works for AC Milan, Roma, Juve, Real Madrid, Barca etc its ok for me. Internationally very few clubs actually own their own stadia, and not as many as you would think (shels, cork, waterford, kildare etc) do in ireland.

as for the GAA angle, they were refused planning permission for their own stadium and were being arkward for the sake of it. will SDCC redesign the ground and purchase more land to accomodate them? answers on a postcard.... and it is hardly a bad thing that youth and local football get to play there. corkies dont seem to mind

And you still believe promises at this stage? Now call me a cynic but I'll believe it when I see it. Remember: It doesn't matter who you vote for, the government always gets in.

On a sad night for Irish football there was however something to laugh at in CHF's programme. The chairman of the supporters club (stop laughing) had resigned and then incredibly went on to thank all of CHF's fans by name:D :D

With any luck this time next year our positions will be swapped.

And if you tune in to Garda Patrol tommorrow at six you will se most of the Rovers Fans get a mention.

Less between them than any of the teams I have mentioned.

I think he means they are big supported clubs who have brought home major titles but also who have also fallen from the top division and not on how much they have won. Forest are currently the worst positioned former european champions when it comes to the local leagues.

ALL we generate is negative publicity? Oh dear. We played Weymouth earlier this season and handed over the gate receipts to them cos one of their players' daughters was dying. We provide dozens of underage teams in Tallght that benefit the kids there. We gave your club money when you were in trouble which was kindly reciprocated this summer.

Keep reading the herag. Stay in strabangladesh with those opinions.

Step 1 - Walk into Junction 15.

Step 2 - Find a Harps fan.

Step 3 - Ask him or her about Rovers.

Step 4 - Find out the history between the 2 clubs.

Step 5 - Find out who your friends are.

Step 6 - Realise your mistake.

See you next year.

Ireland's 2 most succesful clubs (arguably) are now in the first. Others like Drums and all the great Cork sides are worse off. irish football just keeps chugging on.

There was a piece in the Indo yesterday stating that the top 5 clubs in the league in 1980 -

Limerick
Dundalk
Athlone
Shamrock
Finn

- will all be in the first division next season. Something for Cork, Derry and Shels to watch out for...

Well that's a shame. The mutual respect works both ways. We gave a dig out during your bad times (98 I think) and relations have always been great between the two clubs and the two sets of fans. You're welcome to your views, misguided as they are.

IMHO a much poorer league without rovers and their fans. I have met a number of them over the years and enjoyed the banter. Hopefully you can get the Tallaght thing back on track soon. If that can happen I can see a similar rise again like Derry's in the late 80's. Hope both Harps and Rovers come back next year.

all the above stadiums while being municipal are all huge stadiums which are regularly sold out and/or used for major international/european matches/finals (except C.S. Tallaghfornia) whats wrong with selling a condemed terrace any way it's a lot better than selling a whole fcuking stadium and being nomadic for more than a decade

cos bohs get how many in these days?

the issue with Loyal Orange Phibsboro isnt that you sold the terrace rather than do something with it, its the bit of the pitch you threw into the deal too... sums up your ambition that the actual turf was for sale to fund day to day running of your club.

the fact that we have the same arrangement with local government as most of europes elite clubs amuses you really shows how petty gypos are. your situation of selling bits of your stadium to survive is better than ours of having a municipal stadium with the odd kiddies cup final? time for a reality check bohs

The thing is WE didnt sell of our stadium, a previous owner did, as Bohs pride themselves on being a members club the decision to sell off pieces of their ground little by little rests entirely with their members, does it not?

Hardly an acurate comparison to what befell our good selves nearly 20 years ago!

Jebus what are you talking about piece by piece we got a lot of money for a part of the ground that has been good for nothing but hanging flags on for years now the fact that we lose a couple of feet(which are behind the dead ball line anyway) from the longest pitch in the league is hardly selling off the stadium piece by piece if you think that we are going to sell any more of the ground you are clearly delusional

bit defensive arent we? are those bold hoops getting close to the bone?

get real, rather than try and do something positive with the former home of irish football, you let it crumble and then decided not to even bother trying to do something positive with it, but sell a chunk of the stadium and pitch to the developers.

I have no defense for that it is a shame that dalymount isn't a 35,0000 all seater bowl shaped stadium but unfortuneately the clubs members didn't have the vision to spend millions in acheiving this as quite clearly if we had of done we would be selling it out every week:rolleyes:

what is the capacity of the Jodi? 2,600?
what is the worst derby crowd we have seen in 10 years? 3,000?
the best? 12,000?

so if you can figure a way of putting us all in the Jodi id be intrigued. Its about numbers, not segregation. nice try with the red herring.
