Irish Premier League champions Glentoran are the visitors to the Brandywell this evening (Wednesday) in a testimonial for long-serving Derry City defender Sean Hargan.
A veteran of the Candystripes’ last League of Ireland-winning side of 1997, Hargan quickly made the left back slot his own having initially come into the side as a striker.
Derry supporters are expected to turn out in big numbers to show their appreciation of Hargan, who turned 31 earlier this month.
The Candystripes re-established themselves in the top rank of Irish clubs this season, when they lifted the League Cup and were only denied the outright league crown by defeat at the hands of Cork City in a title decider last Friday night.
The game could be a dress rehearsal for next year’s Setanta Cup competition, in which Glens and Derry will be among eight competing teams.
Tickets for the testimonial, which will be the last game at the Brandywell until the spring, are priced at £5.
