View Full Version : Socialist Bertie sells out Shannon trade union friends
The End of the Shannon Stopover (http://www.rte.ie/business/2005/1111/shannon.html)
I think its great news as always been a serious pain to have to stop for 60-90 minutes for idiotic reason. Its like saying all Dublin Cork buses have to stop in Portlaoise.
Airlines will still fly to Shannon as there is demand for it for at least won't be forced to.
Not that it really matters, but the local IBEC organisation and chamber of commerce's were probably more vocal on the stopover. It's more moany hole munster heads in general, rather than the unions on their own.

Clares really more Connaught than Munster in action.

Y'reckon? last time I checked it was munster and the mile long line of cars outside my house this morning tells me a decent chunk of it is now part of Limerick city.

True mate
Then Again we needn't worry about Shannon going belly-up and the local economy being shagged, shur according to the lads its a Connaught issue
Too easy to wind ye up ;)
Still no reason to have Shannon Stop over. Makes no sense & surely illegal under european law.

On the one hand it's hard to defend the stopeover on environmental grounds -which is usually my primary criteria. Jumbo jets should not be taking off and landing at 120 mile intervals.
On the other hand It is also hard to justify the further centering of resources in our fragrant capital.
I think this governments intentions toward Shannon -and in fact the entire mid west region were made perfectly clear within their Transport 21 garbage.
