Absinthe drink

hey y'all, my mate just came back from Prague with a bottle of Absynthe for me and i just wanna know what the craic is with it. i've just heard some stuff about it being an hallucagenic spirit, so anyone that has an experience of absynthe let me know what the deal is. cheers

Had (a small amount of) it once. I don't think it's hallucinagenic but it's quite strong alcohol-wise (which might have a similar effect!). It tastes pretty nasty and has the unpleasant effect of partially vapourising as you're swallowing it which means you get a secondary taste as the vapour comes back up your throat a bit.

I drank plenty of it in Prague before. To do it properly you're supposed to get a spoon sf sugar and let that soak up some of the absynthe, then light it and finally put it back in the shot and mix it up before knocking it.

Its lethal stuff - apparently that's what sent Van Gough mad. That and of course the syphilis.

i dont think it will make you see stuff any more than drinking a stupid amount of any alchol will , its very strong ,i was in prague in the 5 story club and made the mistake of drink some straight i was found in the corner curled up into a ball rocking over and back mummbling to myself , it felt like i was being cut in half !!! .

i think its ment to be mixed with sugar in a teaspoon and heated but that sounds more like herion .

you can get different types any thing over 70 % vol be carefull with .


what did you think of prague , i hated it went on a stag there last paddies day , went to one strip joint left after 5 mins, prague is a horrible dirty sleazy town hope i never go back . and im not normally offended , i love amsterdam for example .

Prague is a beautiful city - I've been there 3 times and loved it. There's loads of culture and a great nightlife. If you weren't on a stag you might have got to see more of the place. Every city has its sleazy side.

Mate of mine got stuck into a bottle of it one night, we had to hide it from him after he got more than half way through the bottle. He had ordered it from an off license at home and they had warned him that if he drank of it all at once, he would die from alcohol poisoning

I've had Black Absynthe before, I think it was 80%. It doesn't cause hallucinations but it really ****s you up!!

It took me about an hour to get home on a route that normally takes 20 minutes and I ended up involved in alot of fights that night. I didn't drink as much as my friend did but ir's really strong.

yea i was coming down the stairs a guy was so bad he had passed out taking a sh1t and puking in the corner of the stairs !!:confused:

well if it was like the dam you haev a section the red light district so if you want strippers hookers etc you go there the rest of the city is nice , but prague has hookers dealers pimps on every street corner .

every single building is covered in dirt and grafety there is nothing nice about any one over 30 they just want to rip you off ...


but my main problem:

i dont mind normall strip joints, i even dont really care if a bird wants to go on the game as long as its her choice , its just the women in the strip joints in prague are kidnapped and sold as sex slaves its horrible , there raped beaten drugged , then forced to service tourists comming over , thats what i found sleazy . and why ill never go back to such places , same reason for not going to turkey ,which is where all these women are traficed trough,

yet this is alloud to go on , on the main street there is a strip joint / brothel thats the one we went to thinking its just a titty bar .i was so offended i left after 5 mins as it was clear the girls wanted nothing to do with either us or the club which says to me they didnt want to be there .. and why ill never return to these kind of cities , if more people stopped going there so often then some thing might get done to help these poor girls .allthought i dont think it will help as it goes on in ireland all the time as well .

well as far as the drink goes, i was goin to take it easy on the absynthe (a lttle easier than i was going to go before reading yer posts!). but if u see a guy in town on thurs or friday puking and sh!tting on a stairs then i prbably didnt take it easy enough:D .
and Anto thank you for that thoroughly inciteful study of the sex trade, made me think twice about the dirty tramps i've been pickin up in tramco lately and how much cheapier and gamier the hookers down by the Barge are:p .
