As seen on Footballox.com :D

As The Rod publicly contemplates a return to the building sites, Footballox.com weighs up the career options for Ireland's greatest ever sporting hero.

1. Start his own Religion.

In many ways Rod is the L. Ron Hubbard of Irish football. Playing hard and fast with the background facts of his managerial career has been no issue to The Rod who has collected a legion of gormless people to 'folley' him no
matter what the league table says. The parallels with Scientology are uncanny, he can even take his name from them. Rod's creed will be ******ology. For is it not written in the Good Book of Rod (the Daily Star to you and me) that following his persecution at the hands of Dublin City, on the third day he rose again and ascended onto Rovers?

2. Boxing.

Its well known from The Rod's radio work that he is an expert in the noble art of boxing. What's less well known is that he was technically the W.B.O. Super Middleweight champ for a brief period in 1995 having got the better of his brother Steve while horsing around in the garden at a family BBQ. One ex-con got more than he bargained for recently when he assaulted The Rod before a Shamrock Rovers- Shelbourne encounter. Employing his famous 'Cabra Shuffle' The Rod was able to send the former prison slag on his way.

3. Singing.

On Rod's own radio station (Newstalk 106) he promised to sing Garth Brooks 'I got friends in high places' should the Mileson deal save Shamrock Rovers. Of course that now looks about as likely as Garth Brooks saving Rovers but it did get Footballox wondering about a singing career for The Rod. The Rod's patented mind games and Euro experience is just what we need to get us through that tricky pre-qualifying round in the eurovision. A return to the Johnny Logan glory years? Only time will tell.

4. The Kilkenny City job

Let's face it the most likely of the four suggestions and come on! Scully is just taking the **** at this stage! One more wise crack from Trevor Welch about Kilkenny's lowly league position and their chairman will be running to The Rod before the summer is out. Nothing surer! [we wrote this several weeks ago - curse of footballox! Scully and Kilkenny have now gone on a great run of form, ed]
