Dundalk part company with Connolly


eircom League First Division club Dundalk have parted company with Chief Executive Officer Sean Connolly and vice-chairman Tom Baldwin after a disagreement over budget expenditure at the weekend.

The departures end a miserable season for the Lilywhites, who were forced to play their home games away from Oriel Park for two-thirds of the season after the club ran into financial difficulties in the midst of implementing a new synthetic surface at the venue.

Strange time to have a row over the budget though- I'd guess they were talking about next season's?

Sean Connolly was apperantly trying to splash out a large amount of cash on getting new players in an attempt to gain promotion... I think they were right to choose the more conservitive approach they've taken, even though it may not be as exciting. If Connolly got his way they could've ended up in financial trouble yet again. Kinda reminisant of what the old board did to rovers...:mad:

It doesn't sound good .... but that actually is the only way to go.

If it is not there, then all efforts should be put into making it !!
Not the other way around.

There have been enough lessons learnt at this stage, what needs to happen now is the guilty partys should be banned from ever taking up those positions anymore .... for ever more !!

Have to agree with that. It is better to have a Dundalk FC in the First Division for a few years than no Dundalk FC at all.
