The editor of The Sun, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting her soap-star husband at their home, police sources said.
Rebekah Wade, 37, who was appointed Sun editor in 2003, was held after a suspected attack on EastEnders actor Ross Kemp, 41.
In a separate incident, another woman was arrested several hours later for allegedly assaulting the actor who plays Kemp's brother on TV, a police source said. Police gave no indication of whether the incidents were related.
Wade was released after questioning at a police station and will face no further action. A police spokeswoman said officers had been called to an address in south London at 4 a.m. on Thursday following reports of an incident.
Later on Thursday morning, police were called to a house in north London and arrested a woman outside for an alleged assault on Kemp's co-star Steve McFadden.
"She was taken to a north London police station where she was cautioned before being released," said a police spokeswoman.
Wade has used The Sun to launch a high-profile campaign against domestic violence. She was previously editor of its Sunday sister paper, the News of the World, where she was the youngest editor of a major national newspaper. Both papers are part of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp group.
Kemp is best known for his role as hardman Grant Mitchell in EastEnders, a part he returned to last month after an absence of six years. McFadden plays his tough-guy brother Phil.
Kemp and Wade married in Las Vegas in 2002.
There was no immediate comment from The Sun or either actor.
