That was a cracking finish by Robbie Doyle down in Waterford friday night. Saw it on EL Weekly last night and was mightily impressed.

But boy didn't he celebrate it in style!

Just as Jonathan Woodgate ran straight to embrace his doctor after scoring for Madrid last week, Robbie ran in similar vein to the Pat's assistant and showed his delight!

Was Doyler trying to copy Woodgate or was he just trying to prove a point that he still has what it takes as an EL striker? After all it has been a long, hard season for both Robbie and Pats.

What do others think?

Think he was running towards the Pats fans and the assistant caught his eye, so to speak...

He reckons it's his best goal so far in eL football, cracking finish. Defo nothing to do what with Woodgate did, just delighted to get such an important equaliser for Pats.

But yeah you are right, very tough last 6 months for Robbie, his form has been affected no doubt, thats only natural after such an unbeliveable time for our family. That goal meant a lot to him being the weekend of his brothers 6 month anniversery

By all accounts Robbie was superb on Friday and his goal(and celebration!) capped it all off. I hope this gives Robbie and Pats the boost they need to kick on and cement their place in the league next season. Is it true that a new contract hasn't been agreed between Pats and Robbie yet? I hope they tie his contract up long term and give the lad the stability he badly needs to flourish in his career.

Good post Dillo. I heard the same story that he was copying one of his role-models, Jonathon Woodgate. Its been a tough year for Robbie and I think I speak for all footie fans when I say that we were delighted to see him score a cracking goal. As JoeSemi said, he should be handed a new contract immediately as he has so much to offer St. Pat's.

he was absolutely atrocious against Waterford...the only thing he did right all night was the goal....his general play was terrible

Lads, were did you hear he was copying Woodgate ? He is defo not one of Robbie's role-models. He nearly ****ed himself when i told him about this thread :D He was just so happy to score, it's been a while like ! and he ran to the bench and the person closest to him with Eddie VB. Nothing in it at all

*****d himself laughing because of the Woodgate comparision, said it was absolute nonsense ! As i said Eddie VB was the closest to him and it's been a long time since he scored
