Odd of just 3.6 on Betfair to be next Ireland manager, down from 30.0.

Ths doesnt confirm anthying

It was well known that he wasnt 100% happy at Hearts - the men upstairs pulling too many strings

i would consider it more likely that he would be getting the rangers job , although peopel are saying its cos romanov had a falling out with him

Everything the FAI say they are looking for. From a betting perspective and anyone who took him at 100/1 yes. I think his record overall is very good. Young and eager enough. And all of his teams have played attacking, attractive football. Would definetely be happy if he takes over. His leaving today is due to a meddling club owner rather than an approach from the FAI. But he is the type of manager we should approach.

Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up at Rangers, or Everton, or Newcastle - Ireland have to move fast if they want him, he won't be availible for long.

George Burley previously managed Colchester United, Ipswich Town, Derby County and Hearts.
Have I missed something or is someone taking the f*cking p*ss.

People think some Scottish f*cker is going to lead us to the next World Cup, it was a different Scot last week, get f*cking real.

mick had only managed millwall before he got the job and he got us to the world cup . he took ipswich to europe got derby to the playoffs when they were rubbish before hand and had done a very good job with Hearts till today.

i think if it was a case that he had been sacked with hearts bottom of the league then maybe we would have a chance of getting him. he's got credit in the bank now after the last three decent jobs he has done as manager .. hardly going to go into international management.

There is very poor choice out there. If its not O'Neill or BK again(obviously never going to happen), I would be happy to take Burley.

That well known Scot Martin O'Neill?

Burley's done well at Ipswich, Colchester, Derby and Hearts. If this isn't success, you're awy above your station, I'm afraid.

Don't know if he'd take the job, but he'd be a good choice anyway.

He got Ipswich a top 5 finish in the Premiership - is that not good enough? I think he's a fantastic manager and we should get him in quick smart.

Why would he come to manage Ireland when he could walk into a job at Rangers or Aston Villa as soon as McLeish and O'Leary get the bullet, and I can see one of them for the chop sooner rather than later,he's hot property at the moment and we just couldn't afford him,end of.

Because he's disolusioned with the Club game after departing his last two clubs under a cloud..

Who's to say??
