Bangor FC has fans based in Russia  How does a Russian get to support a Northern Irish non-Premiership team ?? I am very surprised there's a Russian who even knows of the team's existance... Bangor FC for god's sake... I doubt if Linfield and Glentoran even have any fan that far away...

Must say though: fair play to Bangor FC for their website, they know how to commerce: on bangorfc.tv you can watch highlights of their games, but you need a password to view them. Passwords are spread in the match programs or can be purchased online via Paypal... Handy way to make money of their website :)

Maybe it was the picture of snow on the pitch that was the attraction!

I was driving from Newtownards to Bangor last Thursday - they have almost become one town with all the new housing.

It's a pity that such a big place hasn't had a more successful football team. There must be a lot of potential to build up a good fan base. Clubs like Portdadown wouldn't have the same catchment area but have done far better.

Not sure if they did better... Would Portadown have any fan in Russia? ;)

What league table is that at the bottom? The team at the bottom is Bray Wanderers! UCD are sixth and Dungannon Swifts are top!

Click on the names and it takes you to the notes about each club

Still can't work out what Waterford United, Athlone Town, Dublin City,Kildare County, Bray, Carmarthen Town and another Welsh team are doing in the table.

Odd selection.

I prefer the notion that people might think I can read Russian cyrillic script, but yes, REVIP has it correct.

Weird site. From my basic Cyrillic, the heading on the table is 'Table of 3 British Divisions'! I don't get the connection between the teams other than that they're all Irish or Welsh.

I think it must be some kind of Fantasy League.

The Bray squad is about four years out of date - and it gives the Carlisle Grounds capacity as 30,000!

thats severly ****ed up.
check out the home farm page, they apparantly have a player each from iceland, israel and romania amongst others.
i wont even begin to figure out the mix of nationalities on the kildare county page
what the hell is it all about?

If you use the Babel Fish, you find that Limerick were in the Intertoto (which seems to have Brisbane Strikers as its top team!)

It's the most complicated looking Fantasy League I've seen

The well known Victor Golovatyenko, Victor Bimaj and Gavin Chilli (guessing a little on that one) are listed for UCD.

UCD squad (Just curious at this stage! This (http://www.library.reed.edu/lang/russian/russian_sound/Russian_Sound_Intro.html) helps) -

1. Neil Gallagher
2. Darren Quigley
3. Stephen O'Shea
4. Hugh Davey
5. Patrick McWalter
6. Victor Golovatenko (Romania)
7. Alan Mahon (Star player)
8. Robbie Griffin
9. Rob McAuley
10. Victor Bimai (Cameroon)
11. Niall Donnelly
12. Mark Rooney
13. Alan McNally
14. Gavin Whelan
15. John Gaffney
16. Darragh Ryan (Star player)
17. Lloyd Colfer (!!!)
18. Seán Finn
19. Gavin Whelan (again, it seems, though spelt slightly differently?)
20. Pat Burke (Star player)
21. Justin Sells (US)
22. Francis Moran (?!)

That's actually strangely satisfying!! I can actually see my Cyrillic coming on too! :D It's the World Internet Football Association, so it must be something like a massive Russian internet CM type game. Weird stuff. At least we're doing OK in the league. :)

Why would you not support Bangor FC? Maybe the guy has some conection with Northern Ireland.

I know who a guy who met some people who came to Belfast from eastern Europe. He told them all about the Irish League, so even from Bulgaria they now have an interest in Linfield (yes, sadly not the Glens:rolleyes: ) In return he was sent some stuff from their local teams. Maybe something like that happened.

Still, it is bizarre that the OFFICIAL Bangor FC site lists the Russian page amongst their club links, while the site is clearly full of made-up information.

How the heck can Brisbane be in the Intertoto? We are talking about Brisbane, Australia? Or is their a British or Irish town named Brisbane as well?

An Australian team in the intertoto... Well, Dungannon Swifts will be glad, at least one league where they're top of the table :o
