View Full Version : Roddy has a pop at Doolin

Just reading the Star....Shoddy's interviewed and says he'd easily win the league with the resources Doolin has at Drogs.

"Give me the resources Paul Doolin has and I'll guarantee you I'll win the league". sounds like Roddy could be after Doolins job.??

And he proved it with the great start to the season he had at Rovers with a 23k wage bill

In fairness, Doolin should be doing better with a full time team.

The shodsters at it again but he wont leave rovers until they are bottom

he's "never lost a relegation battle you know"

I don't think he likes Doolin anyway after the brief media rivalry between Pete Mahon and Doolo.

If he spent that over full 52 week season would be €1.1m budget

I think Rovers got better when Roddy had to release the mercenaries. Heard him on the radio last night saying he'd guarantee league win with resources. Seems to be touting for a new job.

If I was a Drogs fan I'd be afraid very very afraid
what is the attraction that chairmen seem to have for the muppet
he hasn't done anything since he won the double with us (and fair play he done well) but he always leaves clubs under a cloud he should be avoided like the plague
I think i'll put a tenner on him to get drogs job by the end of the season ;) ;) ;)

ONLY CAUGHT THE START of the roddy segmnent on shytetalk 106 but he's some fool - the interviewer asked him what he does in training to keep it fresh (for starters he nver takes training as he's always on the radio or fckn tv or bloody liveline!)

"oh I like to introduce a new tactic or a new set piece - the players enjoy that"

a new tactic???????

this guy is a spoofer of the highest order

Roddy has the morals of a rabid gutter rat nothing he does surprises me any more surely there is some disiplinery action that can stop him destabilising clubs in this fashion ? Its just not on the eL is better off without the likes of him
p.s great to see Pat Dolan back involved with the eL Im sure he'll have a managers job next year

as drogheda fan, i dont think doolin will get the sack, as cosmo said the board have always backed doolin, loose a few next year well, could be a different story.
he does talk a lot of crap and he suits newstalk, man they are getting worse, they try to be a serious gealic station, now will try and be a rugby station, doubt if any rugby fans lsiten to them....even their premierhip coverage is getting worse, they used to be great leading up to irish games, not now though. anyway even rovers fans dont want roddy

a lot of rovers fans say roddy is wrecking rovers on and off the field - as a football team rovers astound me this year both in the freak wins they get like longford and the defeats they ship to harps - they're very unpredictable - and I'd never feel they were "safe" just yet - he could well end up wrecking them this season

maybe he can come up with a new "tactic" :D ....or a set piece

as was said before, happy enough with rod on the park, give us our 8 points and we are safely mid table which was the goal for this season.
we always used to tank mid table fodder like longford and the bores, we just arent doing it every time anymore.
we are outrageously inconsistant. i mean we beat shels and lose to harps back to back. madness

Dolan set up the deal for Cork to lose one of their finest talents because of a clause that only a few people (including Dolan) knew about. He said he could never consider joining Waterford because of the "rebel army spirit" before erm..joining Waterford. The man is a prat and will take all the credit for himself if Cork win the league/the cup and/or Waterford stay up.

Yeah, someone stalling on a new contract, meaning that compensation wouldn't be due, just before walking out on a club that gave him his break in management should make him untouchable...

i think he said celtic and rovers are the 2 biggest irish footballing jobs

i think his geography needs a lot of work
he does nothing for this league except put it down. he is a moron and that sh**e talk of celtic feeds into those moron rovers fans who wear celtic jerseys to el matches. celtic is a foreign team like it or not. i hate seeing foreign jerseys at el matches bought for 60 quid in lifestyle when our own clubs struggle for revenue. buy your own jerseys. support your home club. that is what el fans are about.
roddy collins makes a mockery of the league and the fans of both rovers and drogheda with his childish comments.

(P.s. just for the record. This season. Tanked you in Dayler 2-0 - should have beaten you 5-0 only for our innate refusal to take our chances. Beat you in the Flansiro 2-1. Mid-table fodder?? I wouldn't like to see what you think of top-table "fodder" ??)

You're right he's an appalling manager
I never said he was an appauling manager - I think he was underhand when he left and that overrides a lot of the good he did at the club (he left us as a sinking ship incidentally, which Lawlor steadied). I'd have him back ahead of a lot of the spoofers in this league, but if he was available I wouldn't sack Matthews (who's actually qualified us for Europe on our merit) for him*.

He's done good things, but he's a habit of bottling big games - he did for us and bohs and will no doubt will for Derry. Not by losing games, but by making silly decisions that effected the outcome.

*A lot of Town fans would, but they're just the type who'd be taken in for Dolans guff if he ever managed us either.

NY Hoop
13/10/2005, 12:00 PM
I don't see the word appalling mentioned

Listen Yankee doodle - you should get the facts right before you go mouthing off about other clubs. Whatever his achievements, the manner of Kenny's leaving was particularly distasteful. He sat on a contract for months - messed us around BIG TIME refusing to sign. He then walked out - to Boez - just as we were about to play them twice in succession.
We gave him his break in football. He was nothin' before coming to us - a total greenhorn. Nobody else in the whole league would've taken a punt on him. And it wasn't just him who got us where we were when he left anyway - it was thanks to a few loyal volunteers and the players on the pitch.

Although he left us badly in the lurch, he got a standing ovation on his return to the Flansiro. Now what more do you want - do you want us to pay his bloody wages for ever more or something ??

Greenhorn? Wasnt he Pats reserve team manager? With respect you lot were nothing before he came so you could also say he gave you your break into football! He did all he could do with a small club before moving on to a bigger club. If you were offered a promotion in work would you turn it down? He got you to Europe thats hardly leaving you "badly in the lurch".........

All managers and players gravitate to bigger clubs. Roddy walked out on CHF to come to us. He would have been mad not to. Dont take it personally.

Totally accept that it worked out for both sides, and I don't want to disregard the role he played. But too many outside the club give Kenny total credit without recognising the regime change at committee level that went with it. I mean, we've gone on to bigger and better things since he left (and so did he with the league win).

I've actually no problem with the fact he left for Bohs. The manner he went about it is what the problem is, and some of his comments when Bohs manager also.

btw, just to repeat, in the relegation playoff spot. Lawlor steadied the ship and the team and ultimately we survived (just).

If it wasn't for Kenny Longford would still be the insignificant little sham of a club playing in a field that it was before he took over.

Longford gave Kenny his break? Debatable. Kenny would have gotten a job at another club some day as he has the ambition and was already involved in the league. However, Kenny made Longford Town FC, and that is not debatable.
