Manchester United started four Irishmen for their Premiership game with Ipswich on Saturday - Roy Carroll, Denis Irwin, John O'Shea and Roy Keane. By my reckoning it was the first time that four Irishmen started a League game for United since 18 April 1987 when Paul McGrath, Kevin Moran, Liam O'Brien and Norman Whiteside lined up against Newcastle but I'm open to correction.

If that was the only criterion, they'd have played 11 Irish men in every game this season;)

Amazing that 4 is such a high number considering the people claiming Manchester has such an irish background.

 Roy Carroll is from eniskillen and plays for norn iron. And i thought it was us in the black north that wre the bigots. I'm sure stormin' norman loves to be called a sash wearing git. Well suppose at least he was irish and eligible to play unlike a certain Tony C.
