Any tips on how I could remove duct tape which i'd used to write on a flag??? It's 25 foot x 10 so there's a hell of alot to remove... Some of it came off easily enough but most of it is practically superglued on.
Tried a hair dryer & steam from the iron... kinda works - it melts the adhesive but is far too tedious & takes ages.
Flyin out to Cyprus on Wed morning... if I can't get the writing off It aint comin with me (Cause it was written for the france away & makes feic all sense now)

I think basically you need 'duct tape glue solvent' whatever that is, if there
is such a solvent.
Maybe you can start here.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solvent
Try the glue solvents (acetone, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate), however
you best start off trying common household cleaner type stuff, kitchen cleaner spray etc...
Careful not to disolve your flag!!

Futher 'research' reveals a naptha based solvent will probably work.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naptha
Thats stuff like lighter fluid and paraffin so be careful!!
Petrol should work too however it might disolve the flag material too!!
http://www.boatus.com/foundation/findings/duct_tape.htm
"According to manufacturers, any naptha-based solvent will remove adhesive residue. (lighter fluid will do the trick.)"
Once again be careful with all that flamable stuff do it out doors!!
try fecking it into the washing machine??? prehaps a good wash and brush up will loosen the tape?
failing that.... paint over it !! :D
prehaps the duck tape club could help? http://www.ducktapeclub.com/

Soaking it in petrol should do the trick, and then if we lose to Cyprus it will
burn easier :)
hang on... these flag things are double sided!! use the other side!!!, unless you did that for switzerland? :D :p

Somehow I don't think i'd be able to blag my way onto the plane with a huge petrol soaked flag!!!
Cheers for the idea's! Doubt I'm gonna bring it, too much hassle at this stage... Will do a proper job on it for the playoff's... WHEN we get there...
Duno about the washing machine idea, water might make it worse.... The Tumble dryer on the other hand might be worth a shot

Maybe put it in a plastic bag and into a freezer and leave it there for a day.
Works for chewing gum on clothes anyway, principle might be similar ;)

:D Will then not need any string or ties to display, as it will stand up on its own!!:D

I doubt anything waterbased will work because I believe the original idea
of the tape was that it was water proof, anything which will shift it is likely to be flamable.

You answered your own question. The hairdryer will do it. Yes, it may be tedious, but that's what you get with a BIG flag
btw I realise this is too late now, but hey
