Guys , i dont know whats going on with the formatting if its me or the site but you all get the idea........................Rovers Shels feels like a big game already , if we only draw (perish the thought of a loss) we could be 5 points behind Derry..................................Sligo Bohs will be an interesting one with Sligo looking good for a lot of the game agaisnt Derry or will Bohs show up and inflict a Saint Vlentines day massacre on them.........................Galway Waterford is a big game for two teams who wont be keen to finish on 1 or zero points............................................ ......................Good to see the FD back and ill be interested in Athlone and Harps to see what lies ahead for those teams, Athlone are hard to figure but they have signed some decent players so will be interesting to see if that club can finaly start to resurect itself

I’d say there’s a realistic enough chance that either one or both of the games in Tolka and Richmond are called off tomorrow night. I haven’t seen either pitch but this rain has been pretty relentless in Dublin

Yes, wouldn't be surprised at all. Raining pretty heavily again now.

Belfield at least has passed a morning pitch inspection, so hopefully it doesn't continue to bucket down there in the meantime.

Based on data from February 13th 2026, there are no specific reports indicating that the River Tolka is in flood, although heavy rain warnings have been issued for the Fingal area recently.

Will he heading off now in about an hour or so to get the Harps Supporters bus to Athlone, about 45-50 on it from what I hear so should be a good 100-150 Harps fans in Lissywollen tonight.

Not sure what to make of Harps chances, lot of new faces that I have seen little also have to core of last season squad back who showed on their day they could compete with the best in the Division but had many bad day last season too. First round of games will tell a lot I guess

I thought they'd given up on doing matches from United Park after the hassle with the rain last time?

With four home games in a row, we might nearly have this league wrapped up by the time the rest of the teams get a chance to play.

No idea what to expect tonight from Dundalk, but it'll be a good chance to compare them to Sligo.
For ourselves, if we play like we did in the last half hour of last week, we'll be fine. Still not happy about this RB position, nor about James McClean as a #6. Prepared to give it time though.

Buckley, Horgan, Cornwall, Dervin, seasoned pros. Sprinkle in Mullen and Kenny who both have a goal in them, and not may not be plain sailing for you.
First eleven looks decent, whether the squad has enough in it to last the season is the question.

Kenny hunting everything and being a right nuiance never mind the nice stroke. So far Dundalk are just working harder than Derry, whether than can be kept up for 90 is another thing but so far we dont look like a side that wil roll over. Spoiling, bit cynical, grafting, some big lads with some cuteness experience, its what must be done by a promoted side!

Gifted penalty last kick of the game. I suppose you could say Derry are picking up points while being poor. Dundalk should have taken all 3 albeit close but we are the basketcase promoted side. Could have finished it off and make it 1-3 but off the mark and its no mugs that get points away to champions elect.

Clear pull by Cornwall on the Derry man jersey and a pen, what was he thinking, so disappointing not to have won the game when you get to 90+5, but that's football.

That said I expected little pre game and was impressed by the overall shape and play, we should have more than enough to stay up..................but ghosts of 2024, opening day 1-1 draw away to Rovers, but this was a game we should have held on given the late stage, but have to say looking back on chances by both sides, a draw prob a fair outcome, just 90+5 lads.

Anyway, on to Drogs at home, that should be a tad tasty.

Was a penalty alright but you looked decent tonight. Early days but no reason you can’t stay up.

One of the clearest pens you could see, in the Brandywell. He was practically still holding his shirt when the ref gave the penalty, well after the ball had gone. Very foolish. Positive start for LTFC, draw probably fair overall.

Comfortable enough win at the Bowl to get us underway - 2-1 against a Kerry side who I don't think had a shot on target all game. Conor Lennox scored in both nets - but we'll still struggle for end product this season I think

Bowl pitch looked half decent, which makes a change the mess it was last season

I would have thought pre season the best chance we have of staying up is home results, and there is a big opportunity there, obv not the most of inviting venues, make it ugly(ier), and grind out wins.

Any points won away from home will be well received, and one on day 1 on possibly the joint hardest away trip, that will do, but 35 games to go, we wont be judged on this single game, it does offer real hope though.

I expected more from Kerry. A win and a playable pitch is already a better start to the season than last year.

That was a pretty decent line up Kilduff put together over the off season

Fully deserved win for Ucd against Kerry last night. Dreadful from Kerry. Sitting deep most of the game with one up top. Ucd players were closing down way better than ours when out of possession. We were flat. Schoolboy mistakes for the goals.

Playoffs along way off on this showing.

Had no idea what Dundalk were going to be like last night, and was pleasantly surprised. Thought we looked dangerous, and felt we were more likely to score a third than Derry to get an equaliser for large parts of the second half.

Although, Derry showed they had an extra gear at times, and we were just holding on.

Watched Derry twice now, they seem a little disjointed but have a huge amount of talent at the same time.

Last years 1st Division players impressed me for Dundalk, esp Kenny and Arubi. I am a big fan of Dervin too. I liked what Buckley added to midfield. Teehan really impressed off the bench. Two goals from open play, and two goals conceded from Set -Pieces (if you call a penalty that) ... Make of that what you will.

Ultimately, all the off-season drama around Kilduff was justified... He is the prized possession for Dundalk. Only one game in, but if its anything to go by, we will be hard to beat, and have the ability to score. A good mixture for Dundalks ambitions for this year.

Roll on the derby next week. Id say there will be fireworks.

In the 1st, feel like it is going to be more open this year. Reading the Cork forum, it doesnt seem good vibes.

I was a little surprised by Kilfuffs response to the penalty postmatch. Saying it was soft, there'd be nothing but penalties every game. I kow managers can tend to defend players but they should be called out too. It was a clear penalty and he should really have just said that. Id have added that Cornwall should know better but maybe least said and all that. Its a weird feeling, so close to the win it feels like 3 points but have to remember the last kick of the game was an equaliser. Mullen hitting the post earlier too. Derry should have had a penalty 1st half imo, and missed at least 1 good chance with a header. Derry keeper clawed away a header a full stretch 1st half, it was nearly too good a glance, if it had been hit square on it would probably have gone through the keeper at pace. Is what it is. Yeah 2024 we drew with Rovers first game but that didnt have the performance, and Rovers were poor in relative terms for a lot of that season. I think we showed that we have enough to stay out of the bottom 2. I think the most encouraging thing about last nights game was how often we were first to the breaking ball, it showed a hinger, something you could question about Derry. We were physically solid too with even Kenny now able to nip out of challanges with the ball - prior he could be knocked off the ball. Fitness is there, Horgan was closing at pace right to the end. Subs all made an impact especially Arubi. Losing Animaahun to injury I hope is not the start of stretching the squad.Kilduff has continued to impress as a manager. Tactically it was spot on. Duffy's supply was limited and he was smothered when he did get on the ball, I thought Lynch needed to change things there maybe by letting him roam a bit but I dont recall him getting a 1 on 1 run at anyone. Kenny looked to be man marking McClean when we were out of possession and that worked well. We had a limited press, 1 or 2 closing a palyer at pace but the rest moving in to close the channels making the longer ball the only option which were handled by big centrehalves. Derry need to have a plan b and c. McClean at 6 wasnt too hard to disrupt. I dont think they used width to stretch a narrow and compact opposition. As mentioned they didnt seem willing to fight for the scraps. Lacked zip and accuracy in passing which they are more than capable of. Had a preseason look to them which they should shake off but....the 4 points on the board could have been 0. Siign of a good side that isnt purring and pickig up points but its flirting with dropping too many points already. Still my 26 league champions but the soft underbelly or recent seasons still look to be there 1st 2 games.

Last season was €5 pint in the Bar in Oriel, but there's a pub in town run by 3 young fellas which is flying since Covid and they have taking over the running of the bars in Oriel so no idea how much they will be next week

I think they have pints of the house lager for a fiver, stubbies for four euro and all other pints for six, so far. Hopefully it stays the same on match nights.

Reason why the majority owner Clinton flew over in Dec and made sure Kilduff was staying after rumours he was going, then agreed a 2 or 3 year deal.
