Only in Ireland could we get 4 times the average attendance to a game and declare defeat

Good grief, the dampest of squibss this weekend and thats saying something with all the rain and flooding! Its one game but a bit like the cup final, you hope its entertaining to avoid the kicking of LoI, well the dismissive types probably fell asleep. That Bohs shirt isnt much of a Bohs shirt bar including the colours. I wish people would quit trying to reinvent the wheel when it comes to kit designs. Stripes, Hoops, plain in club colours - job done, no nonsense!

For those with longer memories…. The Bohs shirt was exactly like the one they sported circa the mid 70’ , worn by Turlough O’Connor amongst others so nothing reinvented

Bohs using an unattractive/polarising shirt design from an era when the club was amateur does feels rather fitting.Ironic that a club with a reputation for being more of a shirt retailer than a sporting outfit could come out with something so unattractive. The sales figures for it would be interesting (not that they'll ever be released).

Exactly CJ.

The game today, yes very nervy

Pats a lot better first half.
Bohs gad three scorable chances second half.
21,000 on a Sunday afternoon for a nothing match. Pretty amazing as I rrrmember regular sunday games in Dalymount with less than a 1,000
Lots if newbies, families , women..
.
A good expirement, hopefully other clubs will try this out.
Seeing thousands of LOI fans in D4 lifts the spirit

Ah the irony is entertaining. Bohs fans love to have a go at the crowds in Tallaght when there's more there than fit into dalymount but empty seats regardless.

Suppose we know who the big club is now at least.

Will you ever fill Tallaght?
I think Shels have the biggest crowd there?

We have yeah. Main aim for us is to consistently reach more than 6k average for the season. What does the new (as yet still not really planned) dalymount hold? Just kindly ask us the next time you want to actually make money off the Aviva fixture.

We have to spread the love. You last year Pats this year.
Made money today , thankfully , but yes, if it was Rovers we could have matched last years very significant profit.
Hopefully we do it again next year or that the Presidents cup is played there?
Having an LOI occasion in February in D4 should be annual fixed event.

Don’t worry, there will be plenty of crap games with flat atmospheres this season. They’ll just have far less than 21500 there to see it.

Another profitable occasion for the club and 17000 more people than normal getting to see the game in person. I’d call that a good days work for the club. If that is a negative, I’d wonder what a club would have to do for it to be considered a positive.

Ah I don't mind the idea myself as I've said before on here. If the Presidents Cup was a bigger event that'd be a good idea. Not sure you'd get a bigger crowd for it than a league game. Probably run the risk of losing money.

Was it 30% for Pats as well?

I’d say rovers and Derry could have got 20k, bit of hype beforehand and it’d give it a real cup game atmosphere.
It was a good game anyway, plenty of bite for a supposed glorified friendly as it was called.

You'd have to do a lot to change the perception of that game for fans and clubs Dermo. It is a friendly. When our manager himself treats it like a preseason game, there's no way 10k+ hoops are showing up imop.

Factor in that last year's Aviva game was one we should have had rescheduled anyway due to European games and I'm not sure the right ingredients there for a big fixture if we want our teams progressing on that front.

There were only 4700 at this year's Presidents Cup.

Went to the Bohs v Pats match yesterday, build up outside was good, families having lunch and drinks. Both sets of fans in the same bar very friendly banter without shouting. Inside the stadium the atmosphere was not so good, dull but I'd say it was because the football was so poor. Neither team played like the wanted to win the game they were both more afraid of loosing.

It was turgid stuff yesterday. At a certain point you could really tell both sides were happy to take the point and move on.Thought Jamie Lennon was fantastic while Kian Leavy's decision making remains unmatched in how poor it is. Talented player but equally he's where attacks go to die.

It was my 1st game in Aviva since 2018. I dont think I will come to an occasion like this again. I had my ticket scanned at gate and then realised I hadnt paid for a match programme. I asked stewards where could I get one and they said that there was no guarantee that you would get one inside. For one Im not impressed with that answer at all. They wouldnt allow me to go back outside the ground to pick up a programme. They said if I do I would have to pay a for a new match ticket. An absolute joke that. Anyone else get the same hassle?

This is a general grievance of mine unrelated to the Aviva is that it has become super difficult to actually get a programme lately across the 3/4 grounds I’ve been in the last 12 months

We didn’t work the keeper once in 90 mins and yet our most creative player was an unused sub

I see the local Derry toerags are at it again. Insert “no coincidence this only happens when Dublin clubs come up”, “we don’t have a problem at the club”, “our security at the Brandywell are grand and everyone exaggerates trouble” etc ;) I look forward to this being swept under the carpet and the club pretending it didn’t happen, for the 100th timehttps://x.com/slbhoy/status/2019916685306745221?s=46Pleasantly surprised to see that Derry have actually done something about it this timehttps://www.derrycityfc.net/2026/02/statement-from-board-of-directors-2/

Honestly I am 100% sure its a volunteer piece with not enough people to adequately cover the ground but any time ive been there post covid I have gone in via the Navenny Street entrance, the half a dozen times ive been in and havent got a programme

That's very odd. The same man has been selling programmes at the Navenny Street gate since I was a kid. He's still there at every game with programmes in his hand, and normally walks around the ground selling them during the game too.

In all my years going in to Finn Park he has always been there every single time, whether you are in early or late! Then does a lap around. Wears almost a cowboy hat, couldn't miss him!

Surprised there is not more coverage of this here. An SDCC staff member suspended for what looks like watering/over watering the pitch in Tallaght in the run up to the Dundalk game. Watering anything that week would be highly suspicious given the rain that fell.

Now nothing will be linked back to Rovers but very suspect that, allowing Rovers an extra week of preseason preparation. Hard to believe Rovers knew nothing about it.

Hope it was worth possibly losing a job over.

In that case it's even more mental than I first thought. Must be a Bohs fan

It's very strange alright. Did Rovers complain to conceal their guilt? Or was it something to do with gambling. One of the caretakers wanted to make the pitch very heavy to try get a particular result, but went too far and got the game called off instead unintentionally?

Always go with incompetence over conspiracy and you won’t ever be far wrong.

Definitely not with any traditional Bookmaker. Maybe if the pitch was like a bag under 2.5 goals would be a lot more likely. The whole thing seems incredibly bizarre. The fact they are going through his phone suggests they feel there's something more to it than incompetence

Very strange. What happens next? Points deduction, expunge them from the league for the last, say, five years, and a strongly worded letter.FAI need to be seen to be tough on this sort of thing. Whatever sort of thing this sort of thing is.

Can’t see rovers involved here at all, was not in their interest to call it off, and in the end they dropped two points on the Monday?

Hopefully it was crossed wires.
The SDCC staff maintaining that stadium and pitch take a huge pride in their work so difficult to believe there was deliberste damage to the pitch.
