In appropriately daft LSC news, Group C (UCD, Rovers, Blackrock College and East Wall) is completed except for all the games involving UCD.

We play Rovers in a friendly at the same time as our game against East Wall, and a week before we play Rovers in the LSC

The three teams who have played are all on three points as it stands

Pats are due to play UCD in a friendly tomorrow at 12. FAI Connect has the venue as ‘UCD Astro Belfield’. Any idea where abouts on campus that pitch is in relation to the actual UCD Bowl Stu?

Think I’ve found it after a bit of digging. I had originally checked Google maps and couldn’t see a proper full sized 11 aside pitch but found the below link on google with details of a new pitch opened in 2024, with a photo of the bowl in the background. Assume that’s where tomorrows match will be played anyways

Thought that was an away game, no?

I think it's the one about 100 yards away from the Bowl, so fairly close by. I remember seeing an LSL game there one night leaving the Bowl (Raheny United I think?) so I presume it's the main astro pitch these days. But there's a lot of building work going on lately, so hard to be sure what's what any more. There certainly used to be an astro pitch in the middle of the grass pitches - up near the GAA pitch, the other side of the Sports Centre. We've played friendlies there before too.

Edit - yeah, the one in the link is the one I'm thinking of alright.

Yeah it was originally due to be played in Richmond going by FAI Connect but Pats tweeted during the week that the venue was still TBC due to the storm and its rainfall doing a number on a load of pitches this week hence the change to play it on astro

Annual Jim Malone Cup - FAI Training Ground

Dundalk 1 - Drogs 1 (4-2 DLK pens) - retain the glorious silverware.

I don't know most of the Drogs first team, but quick scant it looked fairly first teamers, Dundalk definitely first team today, with an eye on possible same xi for Rovers away next Fri.

Seemed to be a decent work out for both teams.

Kerry travel away to take on Cork Senior League side Leeds AFC today in the MSC quarter finals, on the northside of Cork City. Kerry will be expected to field a strong starting XI, as they look to overcome this potential banana skin.
Kerry have played Waterford and Galway in recent weeks, so there'll be no excuses. Unlike Treaty, there'll be none of this playing a friendly on the same day. Kerry will instead return to Cork City on Wednesday to take on Cork City in Bishopstown.

Athlone Town defeat St. Peter's in the LSC, giving Ian Ryan his first competitive win at the 24th attempt.

I came on here to ask exactly that. He won't get another 24 to get his 2nd win before the sack comes

Comfortable 4-0 win for Kerry in Ballyvolane - a Cian Brosnan hat-trick before the break meant Healy could run the bench in the second 45, and his son got his first senior goal in that period.

Fair play to Kerry, treating the competition with respect, its a chance to win a trophy and its competitive action and in this case the whole squad got some action.

Semi-final line-up now complete - Cork defeated Ringmahon last night, and a youthful Waterford side overcame what looked like a near full-strength Cobh 3-2 after extra time.

Another cup semi final for Kerry to look forward to. Third cup semi final in as many years. Decisions have been made elsewhere regards no return of the League Cup. The MSC is filling the void.

I'd prefer Munster LoI clubs to form their own tournament. For whatever reason they are entertaining the MSC and what's essentially a Cork FA. So that's that.

Waterford and Cork are the teams to beat, even if they opt to rotate their squads. Just the reality of it.

With junior clubs and the luck of the draw isnt it beneficial for smaller Munster clubs? A LoI tournament should (in theory) be a Cork and Waterford thing, Cobh and Treaty and then Kerry currently though Limerick football is hard to assess.

The LSC and MSC both seem like amateur hour. For whatever reason LoI clubs are entertaining these competitions. The Munster 5 could organise their own somewhat more professional tournament. Not on the cards anyway so I won't digress too much about that.

Kerry are away to Cork City this afternoon in their final pre-season friendly. Hopefully a good test ahead of UCD away.

I think you might be onto something here. It’s almost as if they… are amateur :D

Kerry have been drawn away to Cork City in the MSC semi finals. Lost 4-1 to them in a friendly yesterday.

UCD hosting Rovers on the UCD astro at the moment

Second pre-season friendly that's been moved to UCD because of the rain
And they say we bring nothing to the league :D

Fairly strong Rovers team - probably not intended, but yesterday's postponement may have changed plans of course

Gary O'Neill not in the squad - is he injured? Didn't see him move over the winter. I know he's a bit peripheral at Rovers these days but there's plenty of teams he could do a job for

Similarly on Robbie Benson actually - still a free agent?

Edit - Jack Byrne playing for Rovers in it I see

Won’t go into details but Gary O’Neill is dealing with a non-footballing issue.

Everyone at Rovers knows what’s going on and wishes GON the very best but not our place to say it in public IMO.

A Shamrock Rovers side containing all of Adam Matthews, Enda Stevens, Maleace Asamoah, Naj Razi, Connor Malley, Max Kovalevskis and Jake Mulraney in the starting XI were defeated 3–1 by Finglas United in the LSC quarter final tonight

Cork v Kerry in the MSC semi final isn't until April 14th. The other semi final was played in February. Very random scheduling.

Result aside, still more sensible than a side containing only bits of Adam Matthews, Enda Stevens, Maleace Asamoah, Naj Razi, Connor Malley, Max Kovalevskis and Jake Mulraney - a foot here, a torso there...

A player made out of Kovalevskis left foot Asaoahs right, Endas head and Malleys Torso should have been beating Finglas even if they were united
