i think most people would agree its a nicer look but I also think theres and element where you should have something on it in an era where even your local parish GAA club has something on the jersey, it doesn't communicate confidence to have no sponsor, it screams the club is struggling or and i do think this is valid, has no cache in the community

The goodwill piece is important because calling it sponsorship is generous with the implication that there is any commercial value to be returned from the deal, its closer to charity or philantrophy

I feel annoyed by this - but I find nowadays that shirts look a bit weird and empty without sponsors. I didn't always think that - and like most people I used to love them without a sponsor. But I must have got too used to seeing them, as they now just look a bit blank otherwise. And it makes me feel dirty.

Anyone else?

TBH Sponsors on shirts never really bothered me, if some company is good enough to sponsor Harps (or who ever you support) I see no issue giving said company a bit of advertising by wearing the kit. That being said there have been a few Harps shirts wrecked by what I would call overly intrusive sponsor logos down through my 3 decades or so of flowing the club

I'd agree. Especially if it's a local company. So long as it's not a firm or an industry sector I dislike, then I'm fairly relaxed about it tbh.

Some sponsors even become iconic for their links with certain clubs and their shirts. Could you imagine the 1980s Liverpool shirts without 'Crown Paints' on them? The Celtic ones from then without CR Smith? Man U without Sharp? That nice Newcastle shirt in the 90s with the grandad collar but without the Newky Broon logo would just look all wrong/weird/bland. And then there's the Opel Ireland era.

Pats are seemingly releasing a Wolfe Tones kit. Back in my day Pats played in Europe and Bohs were the experts on releasing money spinning band collaboration kits, where did it all go wrong ;) https://www.thesun.ie/sport/16578159/st-patricks-athletic-jersey-the-wolfe-tones/

Heads (neatly coiffed and bearded) will roll at Dalymount over that news. How could they let anyone else muscle in on their novelty shirt money-making scheme? :D

That's a stunner. Fair play to Pats.

TBF though, you've both been **** at football for ages.

Rovers jus got to up the ante now and get direct sponsored by the Provisional IRA and that still leaves the Officials for Shels

Wouldn't be mad about it either. The colours suggest more Rovers than Pats in my view.

You're not a fan of a green and white jersey from a club in dublin? I think it's lovely. Timeless, historic colours.

Take your point but it will sell to that market too.

The shirt has sold out online already. I'm going to head over to the Fonthill road branch tomorrow and see if any are available.

I'm going to head over to the Fonthill road branch tomorrow and see if any are available.Multiples of regular stock levels were ordered and all have sold out in a matter of hours. The club have confirmed it’s the fastest selling jersey they’ve ever had already and the demand for it after the next restock is huge. A good idea for the club to follow Cork City’s lead with their Frank and Walters away kit last year ;)

Just you wait until our Declan Nerney shirt launches. You'll see what record sales look like then, lads.

New Derry City away top. It's almost as if the outfield and keeper tops have been mixed up. Kind of looks like a painter's radio, but really like the outfield one.
Very disappointing we couldn't get a band as the sponsor though.

I think Fergal Sharkey is a do gooder or tree hugger and would probably object and in light of recent events I don't think That Petrol Emotion or The Wood Burning Savages would be appropriate. I think that just leaves D.Ream , I don't think you'll sell too many

Bit odd alright. GK jersey is nice. Wouldn't be mad on the other one. Looks like bohs bus seat jersey.

They'll have to change that keeper's jersey on a regular basis due to kit clashes you would think?

Love TWBS and That Petrol Emotion.

Although maybe they'd be more likely to appear on a Bohs shirt, given Bohs' fondness for featuring music acts that have **** all to do with them.

Phil Coulter? Dana?

So what is the connection between St Pats and the Wolfe Tones. Id have thought that would be more up Bohs street. Sultans of Ping FC would be quite cool for Cork but there are some real stretches potentially. The Undertones for Derry would be fun. Corrs on the front of Dundalk shirts, picture of the band with the crest covering Jims face......What have you started Bohemian FC??!!

That Kerry 3rd shirt isnt bad. The Waterford one looks a bit weird to me - especially the crest and the fact it doesnt actually say the name of the club anywhere. Biut no doubt there'll be plenty who like it too.
