Wexford secured a handy win in Ferrycarrig tonight after a game in which the home side were more comfortable than perhaps the scoreline suggests. Wexford made three changes from the team which began last Friday and went with Paul, James, Josh, Dean, Mikie, Darragh, Dobbsy, Kaylem, Zayd, Ryan K and Ryan B. From the start, Wexford appeared to play a higher tempo than Treaty and also the shape of the team looked better than it did last Friday. It resulted in Wexford largely dominating the half and the two-goal lead didn’t flatter them at halftime. Wexford had an early effort on goal when Dobbsy had a turn and shot but it went a couple of yards wide. On eight minutes, Kaylem Harnett secured the lead for Wexford when his free curled directly inside the top of the far post with Corey Chambers beaten. 1-0 to Wexford. On twenty minutes, Dobbsy had a shot deflected over the Treaty bar by Corey Chambers after good work by Darragh Levingston. Dean Larkin then had some defensive work to do when he blocked a dangerous Treaty effort on 22 minutes. Two minutes later, Mikie Rowe had a chance very close in but it was saved by Corey Chambers. Corey Chambers then struggled to keep another Kaylem Harnett set-piece out of his own net. With four minutes to go in the half, Mikie Rowe increased Wexford’s lead when he reacted first to a low cross by Wexford’s Ryan Kelly. 2-0 to Wexford and it remained that way at halftime.
