Rovers very good at times in Inchicore and a draw keeps us both level pegging near the top. Really looking forward to the match on Monday but the time and day is bound to mean there will be some empty seats. The sight of the green and white always gets the gypsies going so its going to be tough but this time i am strangely a little more confident.

Wouldn’t have thought that 2pm on a Bank Holiday afternoon was such a bad time ?

I’m happy enough with a 5pm KO on Monday with travel taken into account. For a Derby on a BH it isn’t the worst time I suppose. It would take over an hour on public transport from Tallaght so leave at noon and it would allow enough time.

In some ways it's good in others it's not ideal. Getting out to Tallaght for example is pretty easy but if you're using public transport, like a significant number of the Bohs fans will be, it's a bus into town and then luas out so it will take a decent chunk of time especially with the Sunday bus schedule. That decreases the amount of time people can spend drinking (obviously a very deliberate move to minimise trouble) and a lot of fans wouldn't be fond of that. Then just being on a bank holiday may mean people have other family commitments that means they have to miss it or even be meeting with some extended family they didn't see on Easter Sunday for lunch which clashes with the game. For me it's ideal, I'll be driving over anyway, so I'm not drinking, and I'll get home in time to have dinner with the family where I'll either be jubilant or completely silent. I might even see one of the other games played.

Disappointing result last night. The weather was absolutely atrocious. It was, at times, a barely playable match, given the conditions. The beautifully manicured Terryland pitch was a sad sorry sight at the end of the match. Added to that, the ref had an overwhelming desire to book everything that moved. Derry just had too many answers for Galway last night....Hopefully that's the worst ref performance of the year, but that's probably naïve.
Weather was brutal, certainly. It rained solid from the moment we left Derry, the whole way until we got back yesterday afternoon.
The pitch did take a right battering, but was actually surprised at how well it held up given the circumstances.
Referee, Declan Toland, certainly was firing the cards out, in what wasn't a dirty game. 10 yellows, two reds. And we had a goal disallowed for a very dubious offside. Couldn't see from our angle really, but chatting to Galway fans after, who thought it may have been on.
Woeful defending to allow Hickey in for Galway's first. Any one of three defenders could have got a touch to it. Can't be giving up goals like that.
Great start to the second half with Benson's lovely strike, and then Byrne's red. I could be annoyed at conceding with the last kick of the game, but it was a badly needed win, so left delighted.

Laughable desire shown in Bohs defending for those 2 goals

Devoy I thought in particular was terrible for the first goal. I thought he could easily have nipped in and got the ball, but wanted to try and black Honohan off. Super run and finish from Noonan for the second.

I'll take a draw! Rovers have been dreadful for a large chunk of the second half. Just leaving a couple of players stranded up top and failing to move up the pitch at all.

Even better, a Bohs win;) What a turnaround. Must admit I didn’t see a way back for Bohs. Sickening for Rovers :p:p

Brilliant by Bohs, Buckley, Brennan and Whelan made a huge difference, Buckley giving the orders to others and hitting Rovers players as hard as they hit us. Whelan holding the ball then running with it, Rovers didn't know what to do with him and Brennan was so direct in everything he did he was a relavation. Happy Easter Bohs fans
I'd like to see the Virgin Media top half bottom half vote now!

Dreadful second half from us allied to almost bizarre substitutions ( taking off both Byrne & Watts) we got what we deserved.

On the Virgin media coverage Byrne suggested that the fault was with the Rovers players rather than tactics. Not of that mind myself- seemed like Bradley's changes led to Rovers losing any shape.
They also weren't all over us in the first half, I think those two goals flattered them.
Shout out for Colly Whelan, assist for Tierney and Brennan's goal. Would love to see Clarke (who did well) and himself on the pitch together more.

A derby win is always great but it can be such a short term cover of failings. It may well be a turning point for Bohs but tbh it is more likely to be the inconsistent way that Rovers can be in the league - great one game and sloppy next. This game could have been a statement by Rovers but it was fluffed badly. I dont think it will make a huge difference to the endgame in November and the months inbetween but it certainly is one to remember for Bohs and it is reminiscent of the amusing Dublin Derby hoodoo days when an underpar Bohs can get at Rovers. If every league wa like LoI it would be a true bookies dream.
Waterford and Cork this is a must not lose kind of game. Waterford need to stop the rot. St Pats need to make a statement win in a difficult fixture as do Shels at home in the remaining half hour or so. Dundalk's good start slowly being eroded as feared with a big game against flying Brayall things staying as they are. Maybe some needed a reality check from early complacency when it was looking like we were cutting lose.

I'm as critical of Reynolds as the next Bohs fan but that is now two wins in a row. If he was a manager in good standing they would be seen as hard fought wins and there would be a positive view of things to come. I think if he gets a good result on Friday he may have earned a stay of execution until at least the end of this series of games.
On the match today. Honohan was Rovers best player by a mile. How he's not being linked to the UK I'll never know(Maybe he is and I'm not seeing it). He has all the traits to make it there so it seems inevitable. On Bohs I thought they played pretty well until Rovers first goal and then they lost all confidence. The changes made by Reynolds changed the game and put a bit of a different shape on the team. I feel we're a bit too soft in defence at times. We're unwilling to pull a man down or commit a cynical tackle on a player who has dribbled by someone but the flip side is we seem to be getting yellows constantly for innocuous fouls so knowing our luck of late if we did start making those fouls we'd end up with record numbers of red cards. All in all a great win. I heard someone say it was our first win in Tallaght for 6 years! Not sure how true that is but either way it was well earned and well deserved in the end

and i was a runner meself Dermo, hard to stomach but fair play to Bohs, they simply wanted it more in the 2nd half aided by a team willing to give to them, we always struggle to contain Ross Tierney. at half time i said we need a 3rd as if we concede we will wobble. We played ended up playing 5 defenders today as the 3 at the back never said to Honohan and Cleary flock off and get up the pitch. Side ways balls to Cleary got us into a lot of trouble, as his distribution is more akin to .....ehhhhh a very poor distribution company. The subs in hindsight were not helpful in that all our creativity got taken off. Arraron Greene really struggled throughout sluggish and slow to respond although he did make a great challenge at the end to deny Bohs a scoring chance. Gaffney i think may be in the twilight of the twilight. Rovers are not clinical enough and seemed coached within in an inch of their lives and when the south stand stared the ole ole ****e i had a feeling that was not good. So a mini Santry, i am like a briar tonight but what really gets me tonight is mates mine following English teams when talking about "their" teams start slagging on whats app, ask me hoop. More respect for your lot Dermo if being honest.

Cathal O'Sullivan pulled three points out of thin air for City. Won the penalty and then set up the winner after being fouled twice and refusing to go down.
I think his attitude to being fouled is his biggest strength but also likely to lead to injuries.
Great way to end today though!

Harps snatch a draw in Oriel Park, definitely a game that should have had more goals,Dundalk created a few and it took some decent keeping to keep them at bay until the opener,Harps also had 2 excellent chances that really should have been goals, great to grab an equaliser though and keeps McHughs unbeaten record going since he took over..

Pats seem to start feeling sorry for themselves if they play on a subpar pitch, a lot of misplaced touches/passes and then flailing of arms after. Not exactly conducive to a title-winning side, though in fairness you couldn't say that of any side thus far.
Dreadful game all the same. A speculative penalty shout or long range effort here and there but it was about as 0-0 a game as you're ever likely to see.

Yeah, awful game. You might be right about the players feeling sorry for themselves on bad pitches, but it’s hard not to sympathise. Pats game is built on neat passing football, and when the pitch makes that so difficult you’re always going to be up against it. Roll on the summer, when hopefully some of the surfaces improve. No complaints about the result, btw, the pitch was of course the same for both sides. Drogheda might even have had a penalty and got the win on another day.

Yeah rovers never looked comfortable , never seemed to get a tempo going.
I have a lot of time for Bradley he knows how to win things but feckin hell he’s a negative bugger, and it spreads to the players.

Bit mad that if Derry win their game in hand they are 3 points off with a percieved bad start, maybe a sneaky league title in there yet. Dundalk...well late consession of goals are getting a bit too common now, habitual stuff and 6 points dropped as a result. It makes the Bray game a big one or a very good start could become average in relative terms where momentum is everything with a bunch of young players.

If only boez could play Rovers every week they might have some silverware to polish. As it is they haven't "troubled the judges" in a couple of popes stints.
No doubt the remains of the boez fans Easter eggs taste sweet tonight and who am I to deny them that.:)
Thankfully ( for me) I wasn't at the game in tallaght today ,but Rovers lack of that killer hunger and instinct for title success has been absent for nigh on 2 yrs now.
Looking at the other results we remarkably haven't lost much ground so it's onto shels on Friday and another game for Bradley to pull some more excuses out of his hole.

Good entertainment in Dundalk tonight. Scrappy at times but it was a decent game. Both keepers pulled off a couple of worldies, by holy jaysis Harps will need to be getting a goalkeeper out of somewhere as Aziaya couldn't catch a cold. He's unbelievable at shot-stopping, but put the ball up in the air and he either flaps at it, or misses the ball completely.
Harps youngsters doing themselves no harm at all. Equaliser scored by 18 year old Aaron McLaughlin, just returned from injury. Had 17 year old Josh Cullen at left back, 16 year old Gavin McAteer at centre mid, 20 year old keeper, 20 year old winger, 21 year old striker, and a further two 19 year olds off the bench.
The kids are alright.

A good game at Tolka today, and another great goal by Dyer in Dublin. Wonderful spirit shown by the Galway players, to come back twice and after a terrible start. As well as 4 goals Burns and Hickey both hit the bar, Chapman did the same for Shels and there was a lot of close calls for both sides. Add in the D.J. playing in the closed stand before the game, it was great value for the tickets.
Shelbourne have improved from last year and I thing they are very much in contention for the league. The effort and no little skill from the Galway players, while we are used to it now, was great to see.

Enjoyable game at Tolka. Overall I think a point was probably a fair result. Our lads showed a lot of fight and heart to come from behind twice. Shels owned the ball, but in terms of gilt-edged chances, we were about even enough I think. We hit the bar in either half and Shels also hit the bar before our first half leveller.
In Moses Dyer it already looks like we have picked up a very good frontman, he took both of goals brilliantly and troubled Shels throughout.

Normally full on board with being frustrated by the state of the pitch first and foremost, but just didn't think the mentality approached it with set us up for any kind of success. The commentator mentioned that some of the staff were complaining at the length of grass and the lack of watering of it, you had the likes of Forrester pulling out of tackles as well. It's definitely a leveller but don't think Pats helped themselves too much all the same.

Absolutely dreadful game of football. I’ve been to mass that was more entertaining.
Good team performance from Harps in Dundalk , they again snatched a point from a losing position which they have done 4 or 5 time now of late. Dundalk probably the better of the two and had more of the chances but Harps had a handful themselves especially in the first 10-15 min of 2nd half. Thought it was over when Dundalk score on 80 min but we kept at them and McLaughlin pounced on on a bit of hesitancy by Dundalk and just nipped it round the advancing Cherrie and it very slowly crossed the goal line of the post.
All in all delighted with a good team performance and to snatch a point in Oriel Park which has never really been kind to us was great. Up in the playoff spots now with two massive games up next for Harp away to Cobh then Treaty at home

Funny game last night. Dundalk battered us with corners which poor Aziaya couldn't handle at all. Dundalk could have scored 3 or 4 from. They created very little from open play. We created very little but had the games best two chances early in both halfs. Delighted for Aaron to get the goal. The forgotten man somewhat in the last year. Good pre match display from Dundalk fans tbf to them. This season has surpressed expectations by some distance for me

Pathetic capitulation by Rovers and not the first time they've barely turned up against Bohs. Bradley seems exempt from criticism though. The other top half results limited the damage though.
For a team that had a reputation for winning games with late goals, albeit a few years ago now, we're a team that concedes a lot of late goals now. Last season too.

It felt like a win in Tolka yesterday having come from behind twice. Great to have Clarke back in goals, Dyer was very good and Kerrigan had a superb cameo.
After the other results, Fridays match at home to Drogheda feels huge now.

What absolute waffle. While people might rightfully say our ground is a kip, our pitch regularly gets plaudits across the league. There’s a 5 minute interview with Kenny on loi tv after the match and he didn’t mention the pitch once.
On the match, it was 2 points lost for us. Was disappointing not to get 3 points and the ref was terrible. Giving a free out and booking keeley in the second half while his back was to play was comical.
At the start of season I thought rovers and pats would be the top 2. Still think that, but shels have been the best team I’ve seen so far this season

I feel if Shels had a proper defence available those Drogheda and Galway games could have been easily 6 points, our makeshift backline got exposed in both games particularly yesterday we looked vulnerable against Galway's effective attacks despite our ball domination, Ledwidge now going off at half-time yesterday is another massive worry ahead of the Rovers game

The ball was bobbling a lot. It may well be a good pitch, but it wasnt good yesterday. Not sour grapes here, Drogheda were better in every aspect and we were lucky to get a point.
Moses Dyer's performances recently will have him in the conversation for the league's best finisher. He's exactly the signing we thought we needed in the off-season. Someone who might only get a couple of chances in a game who you'd back to finish them. The only problem is that we are no where near the invincible defensive machine we were for so much of last year.
Our 0-0s have turned into 2-2s all of a sudden. The 9 goals in our last 2 games is near 15% of the total goals GUFC fans would have witnessed last season.
